The Galaxy Watch Ultra and Galaxy Watch 7 have a new sensor that Samsung claims has improved performance. But is that true? Today we will find out by systematically testing the heart rate tracking performance, sleep stage tracking and GPS tracking. And we’ll also take a quick look at some other features like blood pressure, FTP and body composition. I want to get this video out as soon as possible, so unlike my normal videos, I will not show you all results at once, but I will show you the results as I get them. So I’ll be as surprised as you and we will find out together how good the Galaxy Watch Ultra and Watch 7 are in my first test. This will be an initial review, and the full review will come in a week or two.

But what is my overall initial conclusion. Well, the Galaxy Watches aren’t terrible, but they are definitely showing some issues. The Sleep stage tracking appears to be similar to what it has always been, the heart rate tracking for indoor cycling was surprisingly bad, and for outdoor cycling it was surprisingly good. The heart rate tracking does seem to have changed compared to previous generations of galaxy watches, and the new sensor appears to be especially good for outdoor cycling when tested on me. The GPS on the Galaxy Watch Ultra was quite good in my first test, though I cannot explain why it did better than the Watch 7, since from what I understand both have the same dual frequency GPS system. So, overall the Galaxy Watches show some improvement over the previous generations, but I am not sure yet how big that improvement actually is. I’ll do more testing over the next weeks, and share my comprehensive review then, which will also include a test on my coll

I intentionally held off on pre-ordering. I needed to watch this video before I made my decision to buy or not, and I'm glad I did. I love Samsung phones, it's disappointing that they can't seem to get it right when it comes to their fitness tracking, but we'll have to wait and see if these watches get updates that fix these issues.
