I drove a dump truck for a long time. Don't forget a safety prop rod, and we ran something like 1/4" teflon strips between the bed and frame to keep things from squeaking
  • @dieseldave564
PUT A SAFETY PROP ROD ON THAT BED!! You need one so when the day comes that you have to work under there you don't get squished by the bed if the hydraulics happen to fail.

Paul: What you call "failed" is what I call good content. Right or wrong, change of plans, good or bad, it's all content that holds interest to watch.

Hello Fab Rats. Just one small thing needed for strength on the new frame. You deffo need some 90 degree angle plates on your cross member joints. If you don’t do this you will get to much latitudinal twist and you could even roll your truck over when loading/unloading, even on a flat level surface. This can even be caused by the wind when your load is being put on or off. Hope you don’t mind, I’m only trying to help. Keep up the good work and never give up
  • I like it most when Paul smiles and says, “gaining on it”. He knows he figured it out, it’s going to happen and he likes it. I also like it when Sean says, “perfect”, cause he knows stuff. Respect to all.
  • @garyvincent9663
Paul when you have the bed up for service you need a Safety "leg" that folds out to support the bed in the up right position, so the hydraulics don't bleed down with you between the frame and the bed rails.
  • @catman19
PAUL!! You have the hoist mounted backwards, range of motion should have top arm pushing to the rear. Just like last vid when you had the rams backwards.
  • @kodasgotgame
That was absolutely a Larry, Curly, and Moe moment when you 3 bumped heads. 🤣
  • Definitely a greater mechanical advantage if you'd turn the scissor lift 180° ! Also you might need to install physical stops in your cylinder to prevent overtravel on retract. If cylinder isn't fully bottomed it will eventually bend or break your frame
  • I'm going to say something once thank you for staying the same person you are as when you started the channel ..have a good afternoon sir
  • Paul, you mounted the hydraulic scissor pivot in backward. I've installed these scissor style lift on a few dump trucks, and it lifts up with the center pivot point to the back of the truck.
  • @sapoverde65
could be the new wood truck , would make empting real easy.

  • @chrisoakey9841
i think you should add cross bracing from the inside edge of the hinges to the other corner of that section. both in front and behind the hinges. to stiffen and support that high load area.
  • @nocrackhere
All that welding and hydraulic fluid and battery electricity and NO FIRE!! Not a typical FABRATS video!! Love your show!
  • @brucemitch928
Cool workaround to solve your issue but, i hate to say it, your hyd hoist should be the other way around, not to say it won’t work the way it is just a bit less efficient. Really enjoy you guys videos 👍
  • @seanknight9898
Ahhhhh! I wish I was there to help. I’ve got a killer design to simply switch out the rear hinges and replace with a 24” bearing slider allowing for a partial auto roll back capability. I wanna see some grease zerks on those rotating channels boys. Great job!
  • @RGP_WA
Wow looks great! A little "sleeping on the problem" and you've figured it out!
  • @johnlove5715
add telescoping ramps to the rear store underneath the aluminum deck or on/under the frame of the tilt, Looks great!!!!
  • @lbeliel4128
Problems are nothing more than opportunities…to do more work!
