Evan, as a Ford guy, I really appreciate you doing videos like this. Thanks.
  • @JobSpetter
I tuned this car like 20 years ago... its so cool to see it still running.
  • The best part was Paul showing the emotion he had for the experience of visiting an old friend. Thank Evan for the effort.

Nice to see the R being raced, instead of seeing it sold at Mecom for some crazy amount and never seen again. Great video guys

Interestingly, back in 2000 I was a driveability tech at one of the Ford dealerships in Denver Colo. And because of the access to roads at altitude my dealership was one that the Ford engineers in Dearborn would use. The dealership was immediately off the interstate 25. We would give them whatever they needed as far as tools, techs and Ford stuff. Being I was a driveability tech many times I basically was working for them (as flat-rate they paid really well). But they generally did their own stuff. It was always two guys driving some type of proto-type car trying to certify it and get the electronics worked out and all that kind of stuff. The vehicles had all type of test equipment hooked-up that was "state-of-the-art" back then. Like for instance if it was 6 cyl. they had 6 ox sensors hooked up. The electronics back then was pretty simple. They always had BOB hooked-up. And any techs who helped them got free lunch too. So over the years I've seen them come in with turbo Mustang and T-bird, SVT Mustang, SHO Taurus, SuperCoupe T-bird to stupid shit like V10 in an Econoline. But one time they came in on a Saturday and it was my day in the barrel for Saturday. They had what one of the engineers said was one of 2 2000 Cobra R's. They had driven it from Mich. So we put it up on the lift to look it over before they headed into the mountains. S/C 5.4L Modular, independent rear suspension. I think a 6 spd. trans if memory serves me. The car was bitchin! It too was red, just like this one. So I was shop foreman also which required a road test with one of the Ford guys(-:

Love seeing some of these old cars coming out from back in the day. This car, Beefcakes old 99 on the LSC Channel. Nostalgia is hitting hard
  • @hk45c62
Thank you Paul and Evan for bringing this car back. An N/A mod motor is awesome. Just proves that you don't need the bottle or boost to have a blast.

As a 4th gen Camaro guy this was great. I remember reading GMHTP and MM&FF back in the day, reading articles about the 2000 Cobra R and for some reason I remember this car and Paul but I don't recall from what. Maybe NMRA in Joliet? Either way total nostalgia trip and greatly appreciate the effort to make this happen and share it with us. 🍻
  • Watching your channel makes me feel like a kid again! All the stuff I used to flip through the magazines and dream about shows up on here. Good years they were, thank you!
