As a Texan who grew up on Dr.Pepper I had no idea it was from Waco! Super weird for me to learn that, I’m 31 and had no idea until today. 😂😂

2:09 Two things they need to bring back are those pharmacy soda shops and glass bottles for soda. They also need to bring back those glass bottle vending machines.

Fun fact: Dublin Bottling Works still bottled and sold the original recipe Dr Pepper until around 2007 or so. I was told they stopped due to distributing outside their allowed range, or something. They also had a little museum that was well worth the visit!

We were always a Dr Pepper family growing up. In the 90s, there was a time when my dad was drinking six cans of Dr Pepper a day! (No, soda isn't addictive at all.) Of course, soda was so cheap back then, I remember when you could get four 12 packs for $10 and a 2 liter was sometimes only $1. I've been to the Dr Pepper Museum in Waco, and it's pretty cool. I didn't know about all of those lawsuits and also didn't realize that Mr. Pibb was Coke's answer to Dr Pepper.

Trivia: David Naughton, who sang the "I'm a Pepper" commercial in the late 1970's, also starred in the short-lived late 70's sitcom called, "Makin' It". Naughton ended up singing the theme song to "Makin' It", which became a million-selling song and a Top 5 hit in the US. He also appeared in various sitcoms and drama TV shows from the 1970's to the 2010's.

I can't believe they never made a Dr Chili Pepper variant. Capsaicin is so hot right now

Dr. Pepper is super popular, and the reason I know this is because I had to go to TWO DIFFERENT STORES the other day to find a 12 pack of it. And the second store had one case left.

I live in Waco, Texas and visit the museum often. Definitely for their Dr Pepper floats. So glad to see this video. My oldest daughter lives on Dr Pepper only.
  • You should do a video of the history of Coke in Central and South America, the soda wars when Coke hired mercenaries that literally murdered people to run soda companies down there out of business.

Hot Dr.Pepper Toddy sounds like a great winter drink.

Love that he just loved the "suicide" soda combo and just ran with it lol
  • My dad grew up in East Texas. During the 1930s, he drove truck for Dr. pepper. I had never tasted Dr Pepper until we went from our than home near San Francisco back to east Texas. I was nine years old and I did not know what to think of Dr Pepper, it was not until probably 1968 or nine that I came to appreciate the wonderfulness of Dr Pepper.

Dr Pepper is the best carbonated dark/carmel soft drink available. My father managed a Pepsi-Cola bottling and distribution warehouse spanning two decades from the early 70's to late 80's. Pepsico continues to own the bottling and distribution rights of Dr Pepper in my state for over 50 years now.
