Renowned scholar and activist Norman Finkelstein discusses Israel’s war on Gaza with Marc Lamont Hill.

As Israel’s war on Gaza continues, killing more than 33,000 people, numerous scholars and politicians have voiced concern and condemned Israel’s policies and actions.

Among those critics is Norman Finkelstein, a staunch advocate for Palestinian freedom and one of the foremost historians on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, himself a son of Holocaust survivors.

This week on UpFront, Norman Finkelstein shares his insights on Israel’s war on Gaza and responds to some of the controversies surrounding him in an interview with Marc Lamont Hill.

"If Israelis don't want to be accused of being like the Nazis, they simply need to stop behaving like Nazis" Norman Finkelstein

It is beyond me how people don't think a blockage and siege is violence.

As an orthodox jew, I condemn the terrorist acts and war crimes of Israel. I fully stand behind Norman Finkelstein. I support the creation of a free and independent Palestinian state. This will end all the violence. As Jews we need to accept that Israel is the occupying force and we need to do the right thing and give Palestinians their own independent state free from Israeli interferences. CRITCIZING ISRAEL ISN'T ANTISEMITISM!!! JUDAISM HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH ZIONISM !!!!

Whatever Al Jazeera is paying Marc Lamont Hill, it's not enough. Very competent interviewer.

I pray this man sees Palestine free in his lifetime. This is a whole lifetime's worth of work of dedication and commitment to the Palestinian cause!
  • I'm so proud and so glad that the German judge voted ",yes". Norman Finkelstein is right: Never ever give up hope. I try to change German public opinion in my vicinity. That's not easy. But if I don't try, nothing will happen.

Like Norman Finkelstein says: Justice means at some point you will reap what you have sown; this was an epiphany for me because it gives me a framework to make moral judgments ❤

People like Norman Finkelstein should never accept invitations from clowns like Piers Morgan, he's way above that level

I'm happy to see Norman regain his optimism about the possibility of seeing change happen. It's thanks to the younger generation and their passion for justice. Well done, young'uns.

The German historian, Tarik Cyril Amar:- ''In a normal world, the Western world would be sending armies to fight Israel, to defeat Israel.''

As someone who was there that Saturday afternoon in the pouring rain in NYC at the action for Gaza I am prouddd to be a reason for optimism, and glad that Prof. Finklestien finds hope in our generation. From the river to the sea, Palestine WILL be free!

I've only learnt of people like Mr. Finkelstein and the great Mr. Noam Chomsky only after Israel started its genocidal attack. But they have been the most sane and well-read voices I've heard.

Norman Finklestein has a point. When you are debating a liar, the best strategy is to call them a liar; early and often. By refusing to acknowledge that a liar is a liar, you contribute to the pernicious spread of their lies.
