Backyard doesn't begin to do this massive system justice: 15-inch gauge, one-third full size, a 10-ton steam locomotive, air brakes and handbrakes on cars, five [real] miles of track, two tunnels, a wood trestle, automatic block signals, two diamonds, a ten-stall roundhouse and a 40-foot turntable!

This guys has a better train system then some cities ! Blows my mind ! The work necessary to bring this to life and to keep it maintained/running. Truly amazing

It’s amazing to think that every single mechanical component and probably 99% of the body and trim parts are 1 of a kind, hand made items that were never mass produced or available off the shelf. The amount of time, expertise and most of all precision needed to cast, machine and shape every single part to make this beauty run is astounding. I can honestly say this thing was probably as much work to build by hand as the space shuttles NASA puts together with the help of computers.

This is the same scale as the Romney, Hythe and Dymchurch Railway in the UK. I believe it's 15 miles long, has loads of engines and a wonderful history behind it including how it was used to defend England against Nazi invasion during WWII. Anyway 1/3 scale engines are beautiful to see in person! ^_^

I was very fortunate to be invited by some friends to go ride on this train and take a tour. It was amazing! I got to meet the man who owned the railroad oh, he was a very nice man, taking sometime too talk to me about the railroad equipment. I understand that he was a billionaire. Unfortunately he passed away in a motorcycle accident just a few weeks after my visit, so sad.

"I have more money than I know what to do with, let's make a 1/3rd scale steam railway!" Good idea, sir!

I am a member of the Ozark Live Steamers and was invited to visit along with the owner of our club. The accident happened and we lost contact with anyone at your Railroad. We were all saddened by what happened and we are glad to see that the railroad is very much alive. We also have a 15 inch gauge live steam 4-8-4 under construction which is a huge project to say the least. We are hopping to one day see it move under its own power but we still have a long way to go. Thanks for sharing.

This is amazing! An investment banker that actually did something worthwhile!

This has to be the most beautiful "small" train system in the world. Everything is so perfect and so gorgeous in the great North American trains and railroads tradition. Automated switches, tunnels, a turntable, radio communications,etc.... The steam locomotive is just so beautiful. Probably designed and built by former train engineers and drivers.. Truly amazing. Congratulations. This is a work of art :-) I've never seen anything similar elsewhere that comes close...

Love it, absolutely love it!!! Would be something to see in person, I wouldn’t want to leave!!
  • 😮!! Wait a minute, 😲😱!!! The NICEST, MOST BEAUTIFUL miniature railroad, of subsequent size, I have EVER SEEN in my life, hands down😁!!!! I feel bad that it's creator, died in a motorcycle accident, and didn't get to fully enjoy, the fruits of his labor. I used to ride motorcycles myself, so I can sympathize with him. Rail rides by invitation, only?? That's a real shame😔!!! All I see is a bunch of old people (and by they're looks, have $), reliving their childhood, enjoying themselves. The trick is to let new generations, enjoy this too!! So a child presently, can have those memories, for when he/she gets older. Open your heart, and open this up to some kind, of public usage. If you charged admission, it would help offset (even a small fee), some of the cost of everything. I understand, the financial end may be secure, and monies aren't really needed, but wouldn't it be nice, to put smiles on children, and memories that would last, a lifetime😉??? How about free rides to eligible low-income kids (and possible orphans), who don't have shit, and would love to visit, your railroad??? You only live once, just like the rest of us…………
  • I can remember Laying in the bed at our house here in southeasttern KY...In the late 1940's hearing ...That lonesome.....Whistle blowing....Comeing out of Harland Kentucky loaded with Coal....Just after my Mom tucked me in the Bed....An turned out the light..Hanging down from the center of my bed room ceiling...Back then our house had just ben wired for electric lights...One for each room...Anyway....Just at 12 O'CLOCK ..Every night a 12 i could here that old steamer Whistle echoing thru the hill back in that place....When I was a child....Sad to say but all of that is gone now.....And almost me to...For I am old now...Thanks very much...!

That Northern is the most beautiful live steam model locomotive I have ever seen! Very, very well done!!
  • @MrBnsftrain
This is one of my favorite miniature railroads! I've never been to it, but i like that all the trains are the perfect size so that they "hide" the driver and passengers! So it looks more like a real train in many scenes!
  • looks like American Flyer with those beautiful white walls. Really great train ride.
  • @WelshRabbit
Superb!!! What a wonderful 24 minutes of sheer bliss this video has afforded me. Thank you so much for posting -- and thanks to the owner(s) of this incredible little railroad.
