Not only can a single GE90 keep a full 777 airborne, it can also perform a go around if necessary. Going from low and slow to climbing out on one engine is impressive.
-
My absolute favorite aircraft must be and will always be the 777-300ER. And the spool up noise of the GE90-115B is just mesmerising
-
The ability of humans to push the limits is amazing. Just when you think "no one will ever break that record", the record gets broken.

The triple7 is an amazing aircraft. It just amazes me when we are training in the simulator and we do single engine go around, the fact that you can climb so easily on one engine while just holding the controls with your fingertips and not even having to have your feet on the rudder pedals (although we do anyways just in case) is just a fantastic performance machine...

Put it this way: just ONE GE90 engine generates more thrust than all 8 of the JT3D engines mounted on the B52 bomber.

My uncle worked in the design of the early DC-10 engines, there's been a huge performance upgrade since then. I love flying the "-200 & -300" 777s! Living in Seattle metro, I've seen the "X" sitting and flying out of Boeing and Paine Fields! Bring em on!!
-
Always loved GE engines. Only had 1 flight on a 777-300, but I can't count the number of time I've actually started and maintained the GE LM2500, a marine derivative of the CF6-50.
-
Am I a fan of the GE-90? That's like asking if I am a fan of going places
-
The B777 is a modern marvel and is easily the greatest commercial aircraft ever created.
-
I've only flown on a B777 once and loved it - those powerful engines are amazing feats of engineering and technology, indeed.
-
The 777! Is built like a tank it’s solid and reliable. I’ve flown thousands of miles in many of them , most with GE90 engines
-
Powerful enough it took until 2017 during the GE9X testing to beat the GE90-115B record thrust of 127 000ibf in 2002 when the GE9X reached 134 000ibf though its maximum certified takeoff thrust is 5000 ibf less than its predecessor at 110 000ibf

I think it’s great that this GE90 awesome engineering work of art blew the doors off its containment area ! Simply awesome. I’m a huge fan of the GE90 and GE9X and all their variants as well as the Boeing 777 which they power. The sound of the GE90 is unmistakable and delightfully haunting !
-
"And are you a fan of the triple 7 and it's GE90 engines?" Yes, I am a fan with all the thrust I can muster.
-
My wife and I have flown on quite a few 777 variants. The ge90 engines is a sweet noise, especially on take off.
-
Lovely sound, the spool-up and startup are very special.

Flew over the pacific quite regularly in the early 2010s, had the fondest memory of Virgin Australia's 777-300ER, personally a much better experience than A380 or 787, or the human rights violation in the form of an ageing 747.
-
My favorite aircraft, the 777-300ER 🙌
-
We had one installed on the 747 flying test bed and it flew the plane by itself. However, the GE9X broke the max thrust record
-
I didn’t fly on a 777 until 2019. Great experience but I’m really a latecomer. It was a Delta 777 and presumably retired from their fleet now.
