You should’ve replied to the “ask your English teacher” Email with this: “Are you (a representative of this fine learning establishment) directing me (a student of said learning establishment) to speak to a former teacher who was fired for tarnishing the school’s name by, and I quote, ‘being a fucking sex offender’ over an overdue library book that was supposedly checked out when no students were allowed to be on school property due to the global pandemic that kill millions? I mean her address is on the registry, so I could 100% go to her house and speak with her, but I first want to clarify that this is, in fact what you are instructing me to do. By technicality that is illegal, they cannot charge you money for something you did not own at any given time. But legally you cannot sue them because it goes against an amendment saying you cannot sue someone for under 20$
