So, I left Russia. I left my family behind and took a two day overland journey to leave Russia. This was one of the most eye-opening, shocking and heartbreaking journeys of my life. Join me as we take this journey through Siberia, south through Russian and attempt to cross the border in to Kazakhstan..

My father who emigrated to Canada after WW2 once said “you can never go home”. I was too young to understand he didn’t mean a place, but rather a time when you had family and friends around before war tore it apart
  • As a parent of two that are about your age, trust me when I say that although I’d miss them terribly in your situation, I’d be much happier knowing they’re away and safe, to be able to return in happier times. My very best to you, Matt and your family.

How awful to read the nasty comments, some people seem incapable of understanding especially when living in a stable democracy. Remember the old saying, "wise is he who runs away, and lives to fight another day" It's people like you both who will pick up the pieces after the mad ones have gone.
  • I've been in this situation myself so many times over the years and my heart broke for you both. Your grandmother was so stoic, as the elderly learn to be, but I could see beneath that, how much she was hurting. When someone's going away, it is always worse for the one who remains behind. But you had precious time with her and parting is the price we have to pay for that sometimes. And that first hug from Matt when you arrived home? Priceless. Absence really does make the heart grow fonder!
  • This pulled at the heart to watch. I know Gran, Sis, and auntie had good times being with you, and I hope you get to visit them again soon. In some sense, your loved ones are never truly away as long as they are in your thoughts and your heart. I'm glad you got Matt back with you. You and Matt are truly each other's home.

So many nasty comments. I am so sorry Julia and Matt ,that some people just don't get this beautifully painful video. I salute your love for each other and your families. It hit me hard Julia, when you said that you felt that you didn't give your family members enough hugs and kisses. That's how I feel every day about my mum. I lost her to cancer. I didn't hug her enough or said how much I loved her enough. Thank you for you videos guys.
  • What really brought a tear to my eye was when you said, even though you’ve been there, and then leaving that feeling of not giving them enough hugs while you were there, I lost my mom November 6 of 2021, and when she passed away I felt exactly the same thing you did, this is the first time I watch your video I’m going to subscribe. Good luck
  • Good luck to you. I’m sorry you’re having to do this. We need more love and peace in this world.

This video share from you hits close to home. Me and Ana (“Ana Goldberg” is her YouTube channel) have been watching you since nearly the beginning of your channel and so much has changed. Many parallels: Ana is also from Kemerovo, we are an international couple, we were meant to be in Siberia together with family for some time before everything changed. Now we are in Belgrade after a lot of struggles, but missing family and feeling a deep sense of loss for many reasons. We feel for you and everyone affected by this. Your gran and family are lovely, and I’m just sorry this is happening. Thank you and Matt and your family for being so open about your life. For so many of us, it’s a comfort to understand we are not alone in our sadness and quiet worries and fears. Here’s to hope of a better future. Peace and love from Belgrade.
  • What an incredible emotional video! I remember back in the day when we would leave our grandparents , always made me sad . You are so good to your Gran Julia ! When Matt came to greet you I was so happy for you ! This was a tearjerker for sure ! Glad you are back and safe 😊❤️❤️ much love to you both and continued prayers

My heart broke for you many times in this video. :( so wonderful that you and Mat have been reunited I must admit seeing his reaction when you stepped off the train made me sob like a baby. So much love for you guys, may god guide and bless you during the rest of your lives together xx
  • I admire Julias emphaty to those men on her ride in the train , much more of her RESPECT not filming them.
  • @ianseaweed
It’s beautiful to see you and Matt back in each other’s arms again, but I’m going to miss seeing your grandma and sister cooking up a feast. You have a wonderful family. It’s difficult times for many people so thank you for sharing the simple joy of togetherness.
  • As someone who stayed behind and taking care of my family, now after I lost them it makes me wonder what a life I would have if I didn't do that. So it's a life ahead of you so live it! Don't look behind!
  • I just watch this , I think you are grieving more than depressed. It is hard what you go through . Thankyou for your sharing .
  • @Jensie50
Heartbreaking indeed, lots of emotion stirred up by watching you leave Gran and the family, as well as the sadness of people having to leave ever behind and leave their homeland and families... 😢😢😢 Thanks for bringing joy to Gran and Sis and family and friends, hugs & kisses are precious, but so too just being there and sharing your daily lives. Thanks for lighting up their lives and I know you will be back soon! So touching to see you and Matt reunited 🤗👏🏻👏🏻♥️ Lots of love to you two! ♥️♥️

You both are so sweet . Love to see individuals who are not afraid of expressing their love for one another. Hopefully everything will be sorted out and all nations can stop with the craziness and we can go back to all of us living in harmony . 🌷💞

you are getting very good at putting the videos together, very nice story-line. It is a shame about the guys that were taken off the train
