Hal (Timothée Chalamet), wayward prince and reluctant heir to the English throne, has turned his back on royal life and is living among the people. But when his tyrannical father dies, Hal is crowned King Henry V and is forced to embrace the life he had previously tried to escape. Directed by David Michôd and co-written by Michôd and Edgerton, THE KING co-stars Sean Harris, Ben Mendelsohn, Robert Pattinson, and Lily-Rose Depp.

I have to say I was utterly blown away by this film, it had no marketing at all and after finding it on Netflix (I think) looking at the cast decided to give it a go and did not expect it to be such a good film. It had a moody dark tones to it that I loved.

This movie made me a fan of Timothee's talent, before this I didn't know who he was.

A great King, unlike his son. Sadly the weak minded Henry VI lost most of his father's gains and plunged England into the bloody 'War of the Roses'. Many of my ancestors died fighting on both sides.
  • Goes firmly on the list of one of the best films I've ever seen. Bravo

Man, this movie blew me away by the time it was over. Everything from the subtle jokes and undertones given at how he is seen as a king.. and the battle scene.. and how he didn't even have to waste time fighting the French Prince.. just great cinematography. A+ film for me.

Joel Edgerton is a very good actor & the young guy playing King Henry was amazing. It gives you a different side of how life was for a young prince who was told he wasn't going to be King but as much I'll will he had for his father after his brother was killed he knew he had to be King hoping to help change his country !

Beautifully dark from start to finish. Fascinating to think what a burden it must truly be and how lonely it would feel to be The King! 9/10

I love love love this movie. It is a masterpiece. I will never get tired of watching it. Perfect in every way. Every detail. I love how the interiors look like a Jan Van Eyck painting and that's just a small detail. The dialogue, the acting, art direction, editing, sound effects - perfect in every way
  • Great movie, zero marketing, loved this more morose take on Hal. Stunning score by Nicholas Britell (so good I listened to it for 2 years before I even thought about watching the movie because it didn't seem like I would enjoy it ... but I loved it actually).
