Fun fact: The company which operates the Blockbuster franchise doesn’t allow new applicants to open stores, they only permit the ones that were operating before their downfall

I didn’t realize how much I miss renting videos until now. Searching for the perfect film and making a night of it with yummy snacks was my perfect Friday evening!

I seriously hope Blockbuster rises again. I'm sure they will with what netflix offers. Seeing those yellow walls with the grey carpet is so nostalgic.

When I was 13 my cousin and I rode our bikes to the Blockbuster on Friday night and rented our favorite video game, WWF Royal Rumble for the Super Nintendo, for weekend. On Sunday night when my mother drove me to the Blockbuster to return the game. I was surprised to find that the Blockbuster had closed over the weekend. I still have that game and break it out an play it every now and then. Everytime I think of that and giggle to myself.

My wife (then girlfriend) loved Blockbuster so much that she rented about 100 movies in a month and a half. The next time we went, she was given a GOLD blockbuster card as some next level tier. I can't remember what bonus stuff she got but I do know she used it and people asking her how in the heck she got it. No clue if that was our location specifically or others. Good video!

Oh the amount of arguments I had with my ex boyfriend in video stores about which film to watch! Good times! 👍 😝

I can't believe there's still a blockbuster still in existence

The first VHS recorder I got back in about 1979 was $1300.00 and the blank tapes were $30.00 for only 2 hour capacity. First recorded movie cost over $100:00. Yikes !

Oh my gosh, such nostalgia! I would spend forever just looking to pick out a movie or two. As much as I love technology and its easy accessibility, I really miss video stores

What a cool experience; I definitely remember renting my Disney and Wrestling videos.
  • What are guys talking about, there are video stores all over the place, I go to the 24hour video/theater all the time, it may not have the same titles your used to but it brings me joy

It's been nice Jacob. It was real fun getting to know you and your family as we all went through the pandemic. You had such an air if innocence and wonder. Thank you for those times. I wish you all the best.

Wow, didn't know Bend still had a Blockbuster. Thanks for taking us along - that was a great tour of the store!

Nothing better than going into your local video store on a Friday night and picking up some films and snacks, simpler times, I miss them.

I remember prior to video, shows like the Wizard of Oz was a once a year event usually September/October typically. It was an indicator of fall and definitely a night where you came home early from playing outside.
