  • The fact that an ipod from 2009 has more storage than my computer is absolutly terrifying

I love how the 512 GB card reads it as “created 1 january 1970” and “modified 1 january 1980”

In the PSP modding community this sort of thing was very common. Not with the TB+ storage because they didn't exist yet; but, back in the day MemorySticks (Sony's proprietary memory card because of course) were ungodly expensive and they never made one larger than 32GB. So, some genius created the "Photofast Adapter". It was for Sony cameras but fit the PSP too; and it allowed you to fit two MicroSD cards in the MemoryStick slot using a RAID format. Most people put in a pair of 16GB cards to have a cheap 32GB of space for music and movies or a pair of then-expensive 32GB cards for 64 GB of piracy bliss. Every so often when a new mega sized MicroSD card comes out, some hero will buy a pair, stick them in their PSP, and share the results with the forum readers, all three of us. It turns out Sony massively future proofed the PSP. They'll read a terabyte, probably even two, no problem. Well, one problem... It's very slow, like Frank in the sunshine. Using it with custom firmware and the Categories Lite plug-in is highly recommend to speed things up. And it can play WAV, unlike the Zune.

When this iPod Classic has more storage than my computer
  • Most likely iPods use a 16 bit number to store the number of songs it has on, 16 bit numbers can hold exactly 65,536 unique values. That’s probably what was causing it to brick.

I'm not really surprised that the iPod choked on so many songs. iTunes was always really bad about handling large libraries. My memory is failing, but I think it kept it's database for the whole library in one file and would have to basically rewrite it every time it updated. I had a library of about 100,000 songs at one point and it took forever to start the program. I wouldn't be surprised if the iPod wasn't also doing similar.

I don’t even care about modding iPods but I still watch this channel anyway because this guy is so entertaining.

DON'T BE MEAN TO THE SHREKLE! I'D LIKE TO SEE YOU FORMAT A MEDIA MUCH BIGGER THAN YOU WERE EVER MADE FOR! HE DID HIS BEST AND HE DOESN'T NEES YOU NEGATIVITY!

iPod: "No Father, please, no more!!" DankPods: "I will make you more powerful than you could ever imagine."
  • @4ngeldus739
The real win here is that even though it was a headache to restore, it's working better than the last ipod did with double the storage. The stability alone is worth all the extra work
