In this video I show you how I painted a realistic ocean wave. I get so many questions asking how I paint realistic water so here is an example of one of the ways I approach it. Painting water with oils is different with every single painting, but I hope this demonstration can give you an idea of how to use oil paints! This is just one way of doing it, oil painting is vast world filled with endless possibilities, so don't be afraid to experiment!

I am an artist residing in sunny, warm [humid] florida! My paintings are heavily inspired by nature and its beauty. I work primarily in oil paint, and sometimes watercolor. I prefer to work in a mostly realistic style and occasionally experiment outside of that. I post oil painting time lapses, painting lessons and tutorials, drawings, art tips, and occasionally artist vlogs where I share bits of my life as an artist. Creating art is my greatest passion and I'm thankful for the chance to share it with you. ♥

That’s absolutely gorgeous!!! And you DO explain very well. Not sure why you don’t think you do - it’s very clear what you’re doing and why. More of these demos would we wonderful thanks 😁👍 a beautiful result 🤗🤗🤗

Your really a big inspiration for me, I actually started painting because of you!
  • What a gorgeous painting, demo and tutorial! I love seeing and hearing you talk about your process, it’s priceless! Equally so, I love your attitude toward painting, and the way you give ‘permission’ around the vast range of styles and ways to paint, and ways to enjoy painting. This is rare among accomplished artists, it seems, and I feel you offer up such a wonderful philosophy and tone. Thank you! :)
  • I just finished an oil painting and this video is so relatable! Everything you have said about how long it takes, the back and forth, the having to walk away sometimes and come back, figuring it out as you go, and about agonizing about perfecting the final details is completely spot on for me. I go through all the same things and just went through it with my most recent painting. This video is a reminder that it is normal to go through these things while working through a painting, it is all part of the process, and that each piece is different. Beautiful piece and a wonderful video!

  • Thank you for sharing this painting technique. You did a fantastic job! The ocean and flowers are my favorite. I am a novice at painting. I am 64 and retired now and have been wanting to paint most of my life. People like you are inspiring so, I’m not going to give up on it.
