After some heavy rain and hail I decided to do some detecting today. Columbine High School was the closest school, so I gave it a try. As you will see, things don't go exactly as planned. Much respect to the families and friends of the people who lost their lives here on April 20, 1999.

I didn't intend on filming this but since I found a wheat penny I decided to start filming. I wasn't even going to put it on YouTube but since I did, this video will not be monetized. Thanks for watching!

you should metal detect rampart range where they tested their guns

    Imagine finding something from 1999
  • Permit doesn't really matter? So basically if bad things happen, peoples feelings take control over our rights. It's the same mentality with banning what is considered offensive symbolism, like the swastika. The more scared many people get, the more they advocate to take away our rights. Klesh, if you don't mind, can I use some of this video if I decide to do a discussion about this? I've been wanting to talk about metal detectors on school property anyway. With school shootings increasing I've been noticing more sensitivity. And I've realized that when people see you "prepping" by putting on kneepads and a pinpointer, from a distance they can actually mistake that for a gun and gear. I've had this happen to me once and a cop drove toward me so fast you would think I was a criminal. To his defense, once he realized I wasn't a threat, he just drove away and didn't even confront me.

It's refreshing to see how much respect you have for the areas you are in and the people around you. You didn't necessarily HAVE to leave, as you had a permit, and were not vandalizing anything but you left out of respect. I like that. Good on you, Shane.

That screw you found might've been from one of Eric's Pipe bombs, in his website he stated that, "you can use screws, that's what I'm going to do". That's crazy..

You honestly can’t blame them. They have to deal with so many people with the wrong intentions, while having to make sure, the kids that go to that school have a somewhat normal school experience. It’s stressful enough as is for these kids. Everyone that gravitates towards this school for the wrong reasons will just turn it into a freak show. They have to be protective of these kids. Permit or not. Common sense and humility :)
  • I spent the past couple days binge watching your videos. That led me to buy a sluice a couple pans a,d went out to Arapahoe bar! Found a couple flakes. Thank you for your videos!
  • Hey good video thanks for sharing it. I know from all your videos that you do what you do with the outmost respect to everything and everyone round.

It kind of makes you wonder how much of that stuff you found, was there on 4/20/99

thats 1990s era capri sun too so it was from around the time that the tragic event occured. there's no doubt in my mind if you had continued you would have found more things like that wheat penny, and probably bullets too since they did fire guns towards that field during the day twice, once to fire at kids in the field, which they missed and second with the shoot out with neil gardner in that general area. There is actually a video called Highway Patrol, which was a short movie about a police chase that Eric Harris starred in and made for a film project and he actually drives past that little hill you were detecting at, just think that wheat penny was under his feet in that video.
  • Glad you found wheat cent. How can they kick you out even with a permit. I think he oversteped his boundaries.
  • @DerekNaylor
Shame you couldn't carry on ..have they changed anything at the school from that tragic day ?
  • Amazing to think that that coin would've been buried there before and when the massacre happened 😨😨
  • Sorry you couldn't metal detector that school. That would have been a really fantastic video. Thanks for sharing.
  • Well that is a bummer, you get all geared up to detect with a permit and that happens. Sorry that happened, there most likely is more there seeing you found a wheat cent. This is a good video, it shows the public that a permit isn't always good enough. Really enjoyed and glad you shared this :-)
  • @JusPenner69
cool lil video of some things ya spotted quick. thanks klesh!
  • @Leafbinder
Sad how small minded people get hungup on an event an refuse to let time heal old wounds. Thanks for the Effort in trying to make some good memories.

Sucks you couldn't detect the rest of the field. At the same time, I can understand why the guard said you couldn't be there. At least you found 1 wheaty. Not a total lost.
