Stealth Camp with the Lanshan 1

Published 2024-07-07
After my wonderful wild swim and hike at the natural waterfall plunge pools, I set off to find a stealthy, secret hidden place for my first proper wild camp of the year. Celebrating 5000 subscribers, what a milestone!! Thank you everyone 😄

Stepping into the enchanted woodland once again in hope of catching sight of those magical wild deer or the pesky sheep!
I eventually find a lovely secluded spot sheltered by a huge Rhodedendrum bush and on soft squishy moss.

Let's see how I get on tonight, with my newly modified Lanshan 1...creepy sounds in the night, a too thin sleeping bag and bagpipes..LOTS of bagpipes.

I hope you enjoy another fun mini adventure with me doing what I do best.. keeping it real!

Happy camping!!

L xx

  • I walked today for the first time in ages, dovetailed neatly after a post cataract operation that restored my vision. We need two things to hike, legs, highly recommended, and vision. It was rather nice to walk past a postbox on the way to a London Park through which a river ran, and not mistake it for Santa Claus and think that Christmas comes earlier every year. Thank you for your own vision which has happily been a comfort through what has proved to be only a period of momentary blindness. I have appreciated it. I can read again without scrabbling like a mountebank. No gentleman would easily aspire to be such.
  • Lilu I hesitate to tell you because I would not wish to be overly forward but you are a walker. I did my first big walk yesterday after the eyes were repaired as it were. These things knock your confidence however ridiculous that might sound. It was a delight. I sat on a fallen branch and watched busy insects scurry by which may seem weird but I would not have been able to see them a week ago. It is life lilu and it is precious. We are both fortunate observers and participants. At the end of the day there are none so blind as those who will not see. I enjoy your videos very much. Those who never tried to walk are unlikely ever to run. Travel well woman.
  • I walked in the heat today, suitably hydrated and wearing an Arab headress that my late father had bought in Jerusalem in 1943. I knew I would get comments when I had a single malt in my local on returning. I remember something you said, the gist being that you get old enough to be secure in yourself. Some people sadly never do. We walk in strange terrain. There are far worse things lass. My best regards. Thank you for your videos.

Great video as always. The noise you heard is actually a bird called a Nightjar, you were quite privileged to experience it. I’ll look forward to the next video, all the best😊.
  • Lilu, I off course admire your work. I would remind you that I am a man and barely sentient. I personally think I have put the process of evolution back by millennia. It is a joy to follow your work. I am hoping to discover the wheel by next Thursaday. Nick xx.
  • Englishman living in wild Washington state USA - your videos don’t need planning or editing; you are a natural talent with the camera and your presence. The videos are extremely interesting and have a degree of innocence behind them. I think your channel is going to grow significantly over the next year and I look forward to watching many more. Thankyou
  • @danielayers
Congrats on reaching 5000 subs! I really like your channel and I'm not surprised its growing. I think the key is your down-to-earth approach, interesting content and your great on-camera personality. Don't keep putting yourself down, you're doing great. Just keep doing what you've been doing and I'm sure you will hit 10k subs before the end of the year.
  • @krissy2321
Great video Lilu, I’m watching from Tasmania, Australia and we are in our winter, so I’m missing camping. Thanks for sharing, I really enjoy your outdoor adventures.
  • @kenhenley7599
Congratulations on passing the 5000 subs mark. Here's to the next 5000 which I imagine will be reached very soon. Love your videos and this was no exception. Keep it up. By the way, and I apologise for being a bit forward, but you looked really cute at 25:00 / 26:00. Cheers..
  • Pleased you are still going on your adventures. I still not got the guts to do it 😢. Love watching them and think you are so brave 😊
  • @iwalker3809
As soon as you pulled that sleeping bag out of its stuffsack, I thought you'd get cold during the night. Even in July its nippy some nights. A decent bag with 400 to 600g of down filling would be a game changer for you.
  • Lilu, thank you for your stories. If you are uncertain about wild camping, don't do it. You have nothing to prove., Don't feel constrained to stand on uncertain ground. I am definitely not being patriarchal, as you know I inadvertently stabbed myself some few hours ago. It was like Ahab and Moby Dick round here. Call me Ishmael. The latter especially knew a bit about walking in whales. Only a fool would cut out his counters with an exacto knife and miss. Fortunately I did not bleed over anything important except my self esteem. With best wishes, Nick
  • Miss Lilu I have a secret vice, not often advertised. I have always been a fan of boardgames. There madam I am unfortunately often found desolee. Some few years ago I played my old walking friend Charles at the overly unregarded Backpacks and Blisters. After the first round I was 35 points up, by the last we had drawn. Some judicious use of chocolate bars on his part had found me unduly wanting outside Keswick. I enjoy your posts. I can assure you madam that Keswick will not find me so indolent again. I am trying to make you laugh, why not. I am a jester, not a fool. As always. Try and pick up the boardgame, in the Lake District where it is set. I have walked off those hills 35 points behind and never caught up. Nick.
  • thanks for this I have been using the Night Cat tent which is a lanshan copy for over 18 months now - I too have made some mods mainly to give me more confidence that it would withstand bad weather. I have replaced 6 pegs with much longer ones. and the rams head at the front with a small carabiner I measured the pole set at the right height against my body so I don't need worry about it being correct when out in the wild
  • Glad you've managed to suss the pitching of that tent, shame it turned out to be a noisy location to camp though...Thank you for finding the time to create these videos and taking us with you Lilu....👌
  • @JamieHarding5
Hello👋😃 That was good. You are very brave💪 Nice when you said how much you appreciated the support of your subscribers. You genuinely looked moved. It was nice. The pork looked delicious. Bagpipes! Who plays Bagpipes today?😂 My camping gear is shocking. I've camped 3 times now. I used a tin of beans as a kettle and as a mug. I'm posh now, just got a tin mug. When you get chance please could let me know how much the camping blow up beds are. Yours looked really good👌 Enjoyed your video. Well done👏👏🫡❤ I
