I built one myself, 50 feet of copper, joints soldered. It’s important to understand WHY you need this: the compressed air gets very hot and thus VAPORIZES water, which means it can’t be drained out and can easily overwhelm hobbyist-level filters. The pipes cool the air down to the point where the water condensates, so you can then collect and drain it out of the drops before your filters, and then your filters can handle whatever is left.

A good reminder that I need to do something like this in my garage. This is nice, clean install!

I like the editing here. When you are talking about a future step, there's a brief shot of how the install will look. It's helpful to see that visual at the point you are explaining it.

A big thing people need to consider is that it’s a lot easier to run their system left to right rather than right to left. I have this same kit and it took a lot more planning because of the location of my compressor. 90% of the filter systems out there are non reversible and have ports that are designed for a left side inlet and right side outlet.

I'm going to use the exact same setup, as always, Brian from Paint Society for the win!!!!

I went to Home Depot and added up the parts to do this with PEX with shark bite fittings (I didn't trust the crimped ends) and black pipe and the kit was actually cheaper. Thanks for sharing. Great channel!

Perfect timing! Building this right now actually. I also have a splitter like you and plan to buy a hose that is 100% free from silicone for the paint shop. Silicone is baaad for painting 😂 Thx for all your tutorials. Kind regards Anders Sweden

I was shown to have compressor off ground (where it is damp) and copper pipe starts at top of wall and circles around the workshop on a decline to end where you need it with 2 vertical drops to catch condensation 1/2 way around and just b4 the end outlets
  • Soapy water in a spray bottle to check for leaks, if you get bubbles then you have a leak.

Add a small radiator before air goes into the tank install a fan on that radiator, works great.
  • I feel a lot smarter after this. I requested a radiator be created by copper pipes at a school I worked at so the compressor would get rid of the water. Maintenance thought I was crazy.

Thats an interesting drying loop setup. id add a clear water separator before the eastwood cfs. it should always be dry if your system is working properly. I used the drying loop setup from tptools. I never get any moisture in the water separator, i also use their coslescing filter. my piping to the loop is 1/2 iron, but i could easily use pex to the metal loop. Id also use disiccant in eastwoods cfs filter as an extra step when painting.

This is one of the best channels on YouTube 😮

Nice setup. I'll have to consider adding this to my new garage when I move in a couple years and after you've tested the system.
  • To test for air leaks, mix up a cup of water with some dishwashing soap & apply to the joints. You'll see any leaks instantly (bubbles!).
  • Great information if the price is good I will order from Rapid air if not will build it, thanks for the info.
  • Great video thanks. Could you consider a video talking about CFM as in my short experience where newbies like me buy an HVLP and then LVLP gun it seems to be all about right PSI and CFM together. I ended up changing out the standard hose for a 10mm and appropriate high flow fittings. My next plan is to change the regulator at the compressor as at 1/4" BSP I think it is restricting CFM as each part of the system can also reduce CFM and this is at the very beginning..

Dude, that is a bad ass compressor! Too rich for my blood though. And yes, I have looked at them plenty for a couple years now.

I've been waiting for you to make this video for a long time. Great video and thank you.
