ALWAYS USE HIGH OCTANE FUEL WITH NO ETHANOL TO PREVENT DAMAGE AND COSTLY CARBURETOR REPAIRS ON YOUR SNOWBLOWER!
  • When i see a mechanic taking the time to clean everything and put the rag to not mess up the machine, i click 👍

This tip absolutely works! I picked up an Ariens Pro for a great price since it wasn't starting but it looked new. It was stored with old gas and I knew the jets in the carb were gonna be plugged. Got it to start after a carb clean but with idle surging. Second attempt, I used a micro drill bit on the pilot jet and NO MORE SURGING! Merci mon donyboy!!!

My parents gave me a snowblower that had been sitting in their garage for a few years (with old gas still in it), and when I fired it up it was surging and would only run with the choke fully on. I disassembled the carburetor and followed all of your steps and it is now running perfectly (I removed my carb and did the work on my bench). All of the gas in the carb was dark yellow and that little brass screw under the plastic cap was totally clogged. I have a set of micro drill bits but I couldn't free the clog by hand so I had to use my drill press to get through the crud! We have a blizzard coming this weekend and now I'm ready. Thank you very much for your time in making this awesome video!

I have to say in all the years working on machines just changing the spark plug has never fixed any issue. The jet at 12:15 is the low speed idle jet for those watching that do not know, it is just about always this jet that becomes clogged, or the idle circuit within the the carburetor body itself. Some times they can be an absolute bear. Terrible design that affects just about every tecuntseh motor out there. You have to pass a single strand of copper wire through the idle circuit holes in the carb, and run them through an ultrasonic cleaner most of the time. If that does not work, some times an older machine just needs a bit more gas to idle. Since the low speed idle jet is not adjustable (on the model you show) the idle jet can be drilled out slightly with a micro drill
