Georgian President Salome Zourabichvili joined Sky News to discuss Georgia's history as well as the country's relationship with Russia - which has invaded her nation three times.

She said it's "concerning" that 20% of the country's territory is occupied by Russia and that Moscow "interfere with elections - using cyberattacks and propaganda".

  • Georgia should seek peace and prosperity within the European family.
  • Georgian people are very strongly pro-EU. But they are a very small country and Russia occupies 20% of it by proxies. So their government has to make concessions that the people their don't want.

ME as a citizen of Georgia would like to express great gratitude to this lady, president of my country!
  • I’m concerned as to whether Trump’s GOP is closer to Ruzzia than to Europe.
  • Is Georgia pro-Russia or pro-EU? if we are talking about the populace, they are pro-EU. The government, however (not the president) but prime minister Irakli Kobakidze and the party in power (Georgian Dream) is pro-Russia, since they are financially supported by Ivanishvili, the Georgian billionaire who is the Putin's man.
  • Most Americans: Georgia is an American State. Why would it be pro-Russia?
  • @DanMan-we9qf
I believe the Georgian people answered that question by electing a French woman

Georgia would be well advised to be neither pro-EU nor pro-Russia, but rather be pro-Georgia. They should absolutely reject EU attempts to force them into one camp or another. Sure, they should gouge the EU for whatever they can get but there is an abject lesson being meted out in Ukraine - and indeed even in Armenia - regarding the need to maintain a good relationship with Russia.

I didn't realize Russia had invaded Georgia so many times.
  • @67ned
