Hi, Kate. Enjoy your channel. I agree, snoring is a part of the camino. Yes, it can be frustrating but ones pilgrim energy is best spent trying to solve the problem, not complain about it. My favorite alburgue is the "Indian Way" near El Ganso, on the French way. Pilgrims sleep in teepees, there are hammocks, and one of the most memorable pilgrim meals on my camino. It was such a cool vibe. Would love to score one of the freebies. Keep the videos coming!

Thanks for being real, Kate. Your videos often touch on the little, ordinary, day-to-day challenges that most people don't think about. I'm not too concerned about visiting albergues except maybe bedbugs. They're not common but still occur.
  • Thank you for all the info you are sharing with us! I just walked my first Camino this past April “Camino Ingles”. My favorite Albergue was San Lorenzo Bruma. Can’t wait to walk my next Camino!
  • @MauiGurl82
Great video Kate! I always love the product reviews/recommendations. My favorite albergue was Casa Banderas in Vilachá. Such a peaceful oasis.
  • These look incredible! Would save my life! One of my favorite Albergue was in Gonzar, Spain - Casa Garcia.

Devouring all of your videos with my first Camino coming up! Thank you so much for the time you put into them for the rest of us!!! Light sleeper over here and definitely worried about the snoring

Just came back from walking the camino and earbuds were definitely a must for me! these ones look way better then the ones I used 🤣My favorite albergue has been the Nacama hostel in pontevedra! The showers were by far the best and each bed had curtains.
  • Gracias Kate! What an essential tool for a good night sleep on an albergue! Too many albergues to choose from to pick a favourite but I echo the concern of bedbugs (not fun waking up in the middle of the night to creepy crawlers) and too much humidity to properly dry clothes in time for the next day. Sending good vibes from Canada!

Great information. Snoring definitely keeps me up, even with earplugs. Will look into these. Thanks. Favorite albergue on Camino Frances was Maralotx in Cirauqui. Fabulous place with a great host.

Hi Kate! Thank you for your helpful advice videos. I enjoyed watching them in preparation for my first-ever Camino a year ago. I completed Camino Frances and my favorite albergues are: Ágora Hostel in Estella, Albergue Los Arancones in Tosantos, Albergue Santa Brígida in Hontanas, Albergue Vía Trajana in Calzadilla de los Hermanillos (single beds, wardrobe, real towels) Albergue La Corona in Salceda. Also, I would love to mention the unique vegan albergue with the best-ever vegan dinner - Albergue Ecológico El Beso in A Balsa. Cheers ~

Hi Katie, I have a small set in a grey case. A pair of large ones for the lugs (ear holes) and I presume the small pair for the nostrils, to guard against the phantom windbreakers, in the middle of the night. Best Albergue to date? Not sure but La Perla Negra in Azqueta-Azketa. (Navarra) was good. Ok it was a bit expensive, it was a bit ye olde worlde hippy….. but the vegetarian meal was the best I’d ever had and so much of it. The hosts name I cannot remember but she worked the better part of the day to produce such a fantastic meal, for so many people. Then when she had the time we talked about the old Spain of her parents generation……
  • It's tough to choose a favorite albergue. Most were average. Some stood out due to swimming pools. Others stood out due to being really bad. Sadly the best albergue was right at the beginning in St. Jean Pied de Port because nothing else matched up. And that is Gite Beilari. I've been wearing earplugs for decades, and yes mine are the green foam ones. To wash them, stick them in the pocket of your jeans before tossing in the washing machine. But usually, it's easier to toss them out and start a new pair. However, the foam ones I use must be quite superior. They last weeks, not days. But I'm open to trying other brands!

I'm so excited to find out about Happy Ears! I'm a very light sleeper and plan to walk the Camino Frances in 2025 and not getting good sleep, then having to walk all day is one of my top 3 fears. Even if I don't win, it's good to know that Happy Ears exist.

Hello!! I am less than a month out from the biggest adventure of my life on the Camino Frances! I am a super light sleeper so snoring is definitely a concern for me. I have learned so much from your videos already. Keep them coming!
  • @jamesmolloy6328
The video is fine and I didn't notice any lag. The earplugs seem great. I live where there is a lot of traffic noise so I think they are worth a try. I have a friend with the same problem so I will share this video with her. Thanks and keep up the good work!

Love your videos, Kate, so glad you posted this one addressing earplugs. I’m planning my first Camino next May, 2025, and I was concerned about the snoring situation too. I agree, the foam ones are not the best, so I’m really glad you shared your great experience with this brand. I will definitely try them.
  • @Caminohacks
Like the new set up. Frances - Albergue Verde. Portuguese Central, without a doubt it's - Casa De Fernanda 🥰
  • Thanks for this info and the contest! My first Camino is planned for September this year and I am most nervous about getting enough sleep. At 71 and with a funky vestibular system, I know if I don’t sleep I may not be able to be a part of the albergue experience. So fingers and toes crossed and happy to hear your review!
  • @loriday9625
Great review! Earplugs are definitely a must on any Camino and in real life in my opinion. I’ve been trying out different ones and have never heard of them. Will definitely look into them.
  • @billkrueger9305
Awesome stuff, Kate! my favorite albergue is perhaps Alb. San Miguel in Hospital de Obrigo, the painters albergue...not the most luxurious but very accommodating. Sadly I won't need the earplugs any time soon, so I hope others will enjoy them. Be well and bc!
