No issues whatsoever on the battery percentage on long trips. Went on a 2300 km road trip with it the third day I had the car, battery percentage was accurate.

I just discovered your channel and you got an instant subscriber. I like the way you go deep into details avoiding redundant topics.
  • The volume buttons are a pain, I’ve found the best way to use them is to click once which turns the volume symbol black on the screen then if you click the volume up or down one click at a time it seems to register ok. Don’t have an issue with the mirrors and reversing due to the quality of the cameras. I’ve had no issue with the projected charge on Google maps navigation, just done a 3 hour round trip and it was accurate to the exact starting percentage both there and back. The attention monitor is my biggest gripe, it doesn’t seem to appreciate that you have to look to the right in the UK when you’re approaching roundabouts. Other than a couple of minor gripes I think it’s the best car I’ve ever owned, super quiet, sooth and comfortable and the Harmon Kardon sound system is amazing.
  • When you move your brand to the entry level market, the cost cutting has to go deeper to be competitive. The software issues can be updated to improve the car if they choose to do so.

I changed my mirror when I picked up my EX30 from Volvo, but I have never changed them again. I don't find myself needing alter my mirrors to reverse - there's a camera? I'd prefer to have control over the volume rather than my passenger to be honest, but I do get the problems with volume control. But again, I don't change it that much for it to annoy me as much as you're annoyed. Personally, we've had no complaints from the few passengers we've had in the back of the car, and I've found there's more room than many taxis I've used in the UK! But we are a couple so bought a car to suit us with only the occasional passenger. We also wanted to get a smaller car because the UK is plagued by giant SUVs - so knew that we'd not have a cavernous interior. To us it's perfect. It's worth noting, the estimated distance on the car needs to learn your driving style and how it's used. Mine has become more accurate as its collected more data. So, having owned mine for over a month, I have absolutely no regrets and gladly don;' have any of the annoyance with mine you do.

Dear Kris, have you had the chance to try the Smart #3? I'm currently between the EX30 and the #3 do you have any suggestion software wise? thank you 🙂
  • This is a really useful set of information. I was looking at the EX30 to replace my 5 year old BMW i3. So pleased I saw this, because the i3 is a fantastic little EV and has none of these annoyances, and the chances of finding the infotainment quirks on a test drive are minimal. Mmm, think I will be keeping the i3 after all; which 5 years of ownership has cost me one set of 4 new tyres at 37k miles, some screen wash and car cleaning products!

Lol. My Mazda 3 dips the mirrors automatically when going into reverse. You can even choose which mirror to dip…with a press of a BUTTON.

Wow low SoC charging is a big problem, as is route planning. Software update will fix it, I hope. I agree I like a volume button/ knob.
  • @kobus2002
I consider buying a twin motor ultra version (with all the bells and whistles :-)) What better options you suggest for a compact luxurious EV AWD? for a max price of 60k euros?
  • The explanation for buttons being removed is cost, of course, but there's no excuse for the irritating software. We were very keen on the EX30 but the lack of rear space means it's not a starter for us, and the frustrating software seals that. If and when we change our Polestar 2, it will probably be an XC40 Recharge, or - most likely - a Renault Scenic e-Tech, once it's been out a year or two so someone else can pay the depreciation! Thanks for the useful videos on the EX30 Kris, as everyone else is simply voting it the best EV in existence at the moment.
  • i think the estimated range gets better over time with actual use as it is recorded on each vehicle. My c40 improved over time for sure.
  • @barryw9473
No mirror dip during backing up function? I think my XC40 Recharge has this option.
  • This isnt even available in the USA yet. not till summer. Will be interesting to see if same issues
  • @bruintoo
These quirks are the reason why I am contemplating getting the updated EX40 or EC40 instead of the EX30 to replace my 2022 C40 when it's lease expires next year.
  • @nehtals
All of theses, except the back seat, can be fixed with a OTA update. The biggest surprise is the range prediction which was so good in the XC40 recharge is so bad now. Hopefully that’s just a software bug and easy fix
