The creators of Crow Country were nice enough to sponsor this video! It's an isometric survival horror game with grotesque jittery monsters, tank controls, a focus on puzzles and an intriguing story about a shady theme park owner (and a shady protagonist). This video is part one of my playthrough. I'll get another video up when the game releases on May 9th.

Kicks vending machine "Obtained handgun ammo" Okay definitely set in America.
  • Enters without a ticket, kicks vending machines for freebies, shoots and damages property. Truly an agent of the law!

That's funny, "grotesque jittery abomination" was my nickname in high school

The way that the developers went from making silly games like haunt the house and tangle tower to this genuinely creepy game is impressive

I love these types of games, bringing the old pixelated aesthetics back into modern gaming vs unfinished AAA games.

"special agent forest, dont mess it up" has the same vibe as "fbi special agent francis york, just call me york cuz thats everyone calls me"
  • @MauMenzori
That feels like if Final Fantasy 7 (original retro game) suddenly released a new DLC placing Tifa in Racoon City. Perfect mix of both worlds. I like it.

A few things i picked up when watching this. All speculation with nothing confirmed. 1) Mara mentions to the player that if anyone asks, she is to be called "Mara Forest" it seems as if she is trying to potentially hide her identity for reasons unknown. This could just be an alias. She does have a Police Card in her inventory, so im curious is to if that's her actual occupation. The park also mentions, "So you've come back hinting that she has been here before which further speculates a small theory that she is here for other reasons. 2) Way later in the playthrough, she meets up with the actual detective assigned to this missing persons case. He mentions some kid slashing his tires as he had to take a bike to get to the park. Could that have been our girl, Mara? and if so, what was her motive for doing it? A personal connection to the missing individual? Mara going "I didn't expect him to come," also hints something fishy. If Mara was a detective, the bureau should know everyone involved in a particular case and rarely are detectives operating solo, meaning they should know each other if they work for the same agency. Just some minor speculation. This game and its OST is a phenomenal love letter to its inspiration.

This odd sense of nostalgia for a generation of games I never even played. Feels comfy.
  • I like how the people here were like "welp, turning into a zombie, no point in carrying a medkit now" dumps it in the trash

I'm only a minute in, but special agent Lara Morris seems pretty cool. "It's a velvet rope barrier. It's blocking the way. Although, I could easily move it" Lol, nice jab at games like this that block your path with ridiculously easy to bypass things IRL. Surprised you didn't need to find the dull hedge-clippers and the sharpening stone and use them to cut the velvet rope. Jokes aside, this game is pretty cool and has the vibes down perfectly.

At first I was worried that the entire game was only an hour, but thank goodness it's only part one. I'm usually picky about horror games I play and I really liked the demo.

The number of First Aid Kits this theme park had was already concerning but the fact that you found most of them in trash cans was nauseating and made me long for the days of garbage chicken. I also hope Mara used one of the ones that were on the ground when she treated Arthur.
  • @MrBluelightzero
They have managed to capture that look of early pre-rendered CGI cutscenes in old PC games.
  • I swear to god some folks are just built different. Love the art direction and style. Good job devs whoever yous are!
  • @zedoctor3724
The game is 3D, but it looks like a pre-rendered background from a PS1 title like Resident Evil if you paused. I've never seen a game do that before, it's pretty cool.
  • I like when devs focus on gameplay and not so much on cutting edge graphics. Looking forward to this one.
