Today we're going to install some tube fenders on my brothers TJ! The brand is Barricade Offroad (not a sponsor) and my first impressions are that they seem pretty decent. This style of fender is very common and this install video can be used as a guide for many different brands. The Jeep Wrangler platform has many aftermarket parts to choose from... choose wisely!

  • Glad you posted this. I just purchased a 99 sport. Ordered tube fenders. Heavy equipment mechanic for 12 yrs now. Not a body man by any means but this looks pretty straight forward. Mine is a rust bucket...fenders and frame repair are in my quarantine future.

Looks great! Love the headlights! Hoping to buy a Tj this year! 😁
  • I got almost the same fenders for my 06 this last Christmas and I’ve been super anxious to put them on because of the cutting, it’s nice to see it done probably gonna tackle it this week 😎
  • Awesome I'm building a set of sort tube flat fender fender flares on my Grand Cherokee it definitely dresses up the Jeep
  • Awesome video, your brother has good taste in parts. I have the same front bumper and front fenders.
  • @phemmeke
I had the same issue with another style fender and the battery box. The second one went way faster.
  • I hope I’m not the only one who closed my eyes when you were blowing the drill shavings off the fender.

Nice video. I do like the retro-flat fender look along with off road protection. But I would have primed and painted the cut edges. Also water is going to get between the cut off fender and the new fender. If that fender flexes at all the water, salt, grit are going to cause rust through at the flex/rub point. I would seal under the new fenders with truckbed or under body sealer to prevent that. The other alternative would be to add a bead of non-silicone sealer around the edges before installing the new fender. Here in Michigan we always look for spots like that. Maybe not so important in the desert. Also what are you doing for turn signals and parking lights?

Cause I live in the Northeast. All that cutting, all I see is future rust. If I were to do this, prep, prime, paint, and seal everything.....with like 3 coats of everything. Even using caulk on the seams. I'm having to redo my rear bumper AGAIN....cause the paint I used was not water tight enough. So much wire wheeling.

Flat top fenders always look great on the Wranglers (CJ style). Would be interesting what the park and turn signal lights will look like. Thanks
  • @lory2622
Thanks Nate. Good advice, as usual.
  • Great video. I bought a similar knock off brand off Amazon and this will help me out. (No instructions included)
  • Did this to my YJ simple project as long as your careful as you mentioned. I was able to do most mine with turbo shears IMO less likely to rust. What I did with a cut off wheel I cut strong and shaved with bulldog snips, just a little tip for all commenting about rust. Other wise clean and prime well with a coat of paint should eliminate the rust issue.
  • quick and easy Takes several hours of measuring and cutting and prepping. Uses power tools.
