1986’s Highlander was a hell of a great movie. From its imaginative storyline, to its amazing cast, to it's pounding rock anthem title song by Queen...truly a classic. Its success spawned a bunch of unfortunate sequels, most of which should be avoided at all costs.

An exception to this, though, was Highlander the Series. The show ran for 6 seasons, and starred Adrian Paul as a descendant of the original Highlander from the movie. The series added so much richness, detail, and backstory to the world of the original movie.

One of the interesting quirks of the series was that throughout its run, it featured many superstar cameos. That’s why, today, we’ll be looking at the Top Ten Cameos in Highlander the Series.

** NOTE: Youtube didn't like my WWE Roddy Piper footage so I had to trim it out. You will notice a sudden, somewhat jarring jump around the 6-minute mark, beginning with "Number 6 - Roddy Piper."
  • My favorite was always Roger Daltry as Hugh Fitzcairne. He had the best attitude for life that an immortal should have, HAVE FUN. Good food, good drink, fine women.
  • The episodes with Fitzcairn were always the best, he was such a good foil for Ducan and made for entertaining TV.

Fun fact: Ron Perlman initially auditioned to play Methos in the show, but the role ultimately went to Peter Wingfield. So him playing a fake Methos is actually a nice nod to the real-life casting process.

Fun Fact: I was an actor/stuntman in the 90's and worked on "Prophecy" ('96) playing Neil MacGregor taunting a young Duncan in a flashback about joining the wolf hunt.

Roland Gift as Xavier St. Cloud was kinda like the Joker. so good.
  • Best theme song of any series. Right up there with Iron Eagle and Flash Gordon.

There were some other bigger name actors who were overlooked, like; Jonathan Banks. Sandra Bernhard. Rae Dawn Chong. Randall Tex Cobb. Claudia Christian. Laurie Holden. Jason Isaac. Traci Lords. Eric McCormack. Joe Pantonliano. Barry Pepper. Dougray Scott. Marc Singer. Stella Stevens.

Hey you forgot me! Ok I know I'm not famous but am a musician. I was on my first trip to Paris and of course went to Eiffel tower. Just so happens it was the same day they were filming the episode where Duncan and Amanda dance on the tower. At that point while I had seen the movie I didn't know there was a TV show and thought it must have been a French show only. I ended up being a extra in the crowd of onlookers. Blink and you'll miss me lol.

Peter DeLuise. has made a name for him self in the sci fi hit show Stargate SG1, he play some small parts on the show but he spent most of the time behind the camera.
  • I enjoyed the 90's shows so much more then other decades
  • Adrian Paul was correct, a dude that respects the material that came before him is such an anacronym now is hate the old material and do it new, and if possible degrade the old material.
  • The highlander tv show was the greatest thing on television that you wanted to keep on watching the show to see what it was like to lose some one you love and the pain that goes with it and the music that goes with it who wants to live forever by queen who did the music for the tv show

Xavier's missing hand bothered me in the past, because if a hand couldn't grow back Duncan would be scarred to hell. My headcannon is that it takes 20 years to grow the hand of a 20 year old man, or even 5 years at an accelerated healing rate and Xavier had a little silly baby hand beneath his claw. This would also explain why his hook was so far from his arm.
  • I really like Highlander Endgame. I always felt it was the only good sequel to the original, and in nobsmall part because it involved Duncan becoming the main protagonist there.
  • I met Jason Isaacs at a convention a few years ago. Of course most of the people in his line were Harry Potter fans. He was glad and impressed that his fans still remember his role in Highlander. We had a brief chat about his role on Highander. He said it was one of his first acting roles he got and it was great working on the show. James Faulkner's Marcus Constantine was one of the characters I wish they would have had more time to focus on. He seemed to have an interesting back story.
