The Park fire jumped lanes valley road between Manton and Paynes Creek Monday afternoon after firefighters attempted an emergency back burn to hold the fire. Close range retardant drops attempted to slow the fire, but it wasn’t enough. Extreme fire behavior with spotting and torching occurred.
