It's not something you see every day. Video of a mail delivery truck driving over the easement, sidewalk, and onto a Waterford homeowner's property to deliver their mail this month.

I worked as a carrier for 37 years. We're not allowed to drive on sidewalks. Period
  • How is it not a federal crime to not deliver this mans mail?

Never heard of the USPS driving on sidewalks for "safety" 👀
  • I’m a carrier for 19 years If I have to deliver mail and the street is narrow, I’ll go to the right as far as I can with the hazard lights on and park, and walk the extra couple feet to the mailbox. Cars behind me can wait, or go around. The postal manual M41 forbids driving on sidewalks. This carrier should be given an investigative interview by his managers. That’s their job
  • all you have to do is have a cop sit there and wait for it to happen then he can pull them over and get a ticket, but im sure the PD doesnt want to get into a pissing match with a federal government agency. The USPS clearly proved they have a vendetta against him, once he moved the mailbox they still refused to give him his mail. withholding someones mail is illegal. this needs to be investigated at the highest level and the postmaster general needs to be fired.
  • As a current city carryTHIS IS INSANE!!! AND AGAINST ALL RULES WE ARE TAUGHT! THEY NEED TO FIRE THIS GUY
  • They have a vendetta against him because he spoke to them about the damage...
  • Worked here in Florida for USPS for a number of years and this was not allowed. That said, mailboxes are to be about 6 inches off the main road, not some 5 yards back on the other side of the walkway. Also, I would have informed the homeowner numerous times before informing him that he'll need to pick up the mail at the post office if nothing was done to avoid such incident.

FYI- if you call your US Representative’s office, your mail issues will magically get solved. They will get their attention very quickly
  • A “safety issue”? Isn’t it a “safety issue” for pedestrians on the sidewalk?
  • I love that he proved they are just being dicks by moving his mailbox to the road where other mailboxes were and they still drove on his lawn and refused to deliver his mail
  • A mail carrier HAS to exit his/her vehicle to deliver mail into the box!! Thank you seriously for going to that reporter! She deserves an award! I honestly didn’t believe we had real NEWS anymore 😢 I hope that situation has been resolved 🎉🎉
  • The minute you complain, they find a reason not to deliver, it’s disgusting
  • I bet they don't drive all over the grass in the rich neighborhoods.
  • Typical Post Office response. We live on a hill and last winter we had a nasty ice storm that lasted several days. A fellow came down the hill, lost control of his pickup, and sheared the ‘cluster mailbox’ right off the concrete sidewalk. The Post Office told us we will need to DRIVE to the nearest Post Office (4 miles from us) to get our mail because putting mail on our porch was unsafe. They had absolutely NO plans to replace it based on the idea that they were not responsible for the damage to the mailbox. Went round and round for 4 months. Got our City Councilor involved, not to mention the Mayor and finally our State Representative for area. It took almost 5 months but we finally got the mailbox replaced.
  • As a rural carrier retiree I can tell you what should have happened since rural carriers are supposed to deliver mail from their vehicle. The customer with the mailbox on their lawn should have been notified that they can pick up their mail at the post office until the mailbox is moved to the curb. It should be 42" from the bottom of the mailbox to the road when installed correctly.
