I have easy to follow and thorough step by step tutorials "do it yourself" (DIY) videos to help you with your broken lawn and garden equipment including snowblowers and zero turn mowers.

I do my best to teach you how to easily diagnose problems the fastest, quickest and most efficient way with real repairs beyond just replacing a spark plug. These tips are for both the homeowner and shop owner.

Whether it be a handheld, two stroke, two cycle engine like a chainsaw, weed eater, weed whacker, string trimmer, grass trimmer, line trimmer, hedge trimmer, strimmer, brush cutter, leaf blower, or four stroke, four cycle units like a lawnmower, wood splitter, lawn tractor, zero turn mower, snowblower, pressure washer, generator or a ride on mower that needs parts installed or replaced, I’m your go-to guy.

My favorite brands of spark plugs are NGK and Champion and are the ones I recommend.

I’ve been a small engine mechanic for many decades and also run my own repair shop so my videos are loaded with tips and tricks that I have learned and want to share with you. You will also find many tool and product reviews from top brands on my channel as well.
I have the largest Small Engine Repair Video Library on Youtube and the entire internet with over 1200 videos, just GOOGLE "DONYBOY73"!

You are absolutely correct. Those old flat head Briggs were incredible motors and would usually outlast the reat if the mower they were bolted to. Sadly, the entry level riding lawn mower market is full of cheap under-engineered crap these days.

After you are done cutting for the day get your leaf blower out and spend 2 minutes blowing the grass clippings out of everywhere on the mower you can get air to. The top of the deck and around the pulleys will save you a lot of headaches in the long run.

You just know it's going to be a great day when Donyboy puts a new video up. Thank you, Dony, for sharing your mechanical expertise with all of us. As you said, it is a simple repair process, but not so easy if people don't have your incredible knowledge. 👍👍👍👍👍
  • Those older Briggs I/C (industrial Commercial) flathead engines are bulletproof.
  • @MaMa-qh4dy
Great idea to put nuts on the ends of those mounting bolts!
  • @danewert2306
Isn't it great what some simple maintenance can do? Great Video 👍
  • @REDBIRD-95
Old Briggs = 💪💪 New Briggs = 💩 Sad to say the old stuff is WAY better than the new stuff. If you have an old Briggs and Stratton powered piece of equipment, keep it 'cause that engine will outlive anything produced today. Have a great Sunday Don👍

Just plain "Common Sense" has everything to do with why I watch your channel, Donny ! 😃👍
  • @jepsdog3859

  • @homers7777
Greenfield mowers in Australia used to have Briggs on them. They now use zongseng engines and have had some last 30, 60 hours and the crap themselves. Some of the ones old Greenfields come in an have 600+ has and no issues.
  • @BobHerres
Awesome video! Shamefully, I'm one of the ones that did not recognize the engine was loose! I won't forget this one!😀😀
  • The fun part is dealing with all of the dirt and oil that is so caked up on the underside of the engine mounting area
  • I have the Briggs and Stratton 20hp opposed twin on my 1996 Columbia (LTD made) lawn tractor. Very reliable and great sounding engine. The rest of the tractor is mean quality.
  • Good Morning! i had that happen to me on my older style craftsman LT1000. i tightened the mounting bolts up like you did, and i also put some locking nuts on too (the kind with the nylon inside of the nut. :)
  • @rulif2092
I have just this type of engine in my Stiga Villa Senator 1999 runs like a charm!
  • @rooster3019
Good tip. Looks like that equipment could use some TLC.
  • @REVNUMANEWBERN
As USUAL short, precise, understandable & I ALWAYS give a 👍
  • @donaldwcash4653
Absolutely love those old engines. As long as you take care of them, they'll outlast the mower and mowers
  • @JohannZ100
I agree 100% on those old flathead Briggs and Stratton I/C Engines. Only time one failed was improper maintenence or Not Checking Oil.
