The guests discuss how Muharram was commemorated on national television—PTV, delivering powerful messages that emanate from the events of Karbala. They provide insights into the art of Marsiya, exploring the works of literary giants like Mir Anees and Mirza Dabeer.

In the podcast, Hyder Abbas talks about the significant contributions of Karachi-based slain poet and educator, Sibt-e-Jaafar Zaidi alongside other contemporary poets and their work on the memory of Karbala.

The discussion also covers the secular narrative of Karbala and its role in shaping the socio-political and cultural landscape of the subcontinent.

Rana Asif discusses late religious scholar Maulana Shafee Okarvi, also known as Khateeb-e-Pakistan, and his unique style of speeches during Muharram that captivated audiences. The conversation also compares mourning rituals between Iran and Pakistan.

An excellent podcast! We should have more discussions like this, where we acknowledge contributions and share clips or audio from the past. This approach not only enlightens the new generation but also helps preserve the rich heritage of Pakistan. Allama Naseer Hussain Ijtehadi played a significant role in the history of religious broadcasting on Pakistan Television (PTV), particularly with his recitations and contributions to the Sham-e-Ghariban Majalis from 1976 to 1989. His series of lectures covered various important topics, each contributing to the dissemination of Islamic teachings and values during the early years of Pakistani television. Here is a summary of his annual topics: - *Ghazwat-a-Sariya* (1976) - *Maqsad-e-Risalat* (1977) - *Ali Izm* (1978) - *Aql aur Malokeet* (1979) - *Qanoon-E-Elahi* (1980) - *Nazam-e-Mustafa* (1981) - *Dua* (1982) - *Quran* (1983) - *Islam* (1984) - *Raza-e-Elahi* (1985) - *Eman* (1986) - *Al-Ilm* (1987) - *Nabuwat* (1988) - *Aqeeda* (1989) The contributions of all Zakir-e-Ahle Bait should be acknowledged and respected for their efforts in promoting the true message of Islam through the emerging media of television in Pakistan. Their work played a crucial role in shaping the religious and cultural discourse during that period.

  • 1970s me jab hum log bachche the us time men wooden shutter door wala black n white tv hota tha. Jab muharram la chand nazar aate hi ghar se koi bada screwdriver se usko peeche se khol kar koi part nikal deta tha uske baad chalis din tak chehlum ke baad wo part join hota. 40 din tak koi chahe bhi to tv nahi dekh sakta tha. Waqt ab bahot change ho gaya purane log bhi nahi rahe. Hum log Sunni hain.
