Thanks again, and I've tried all those. The only position I can at least get some relief is on the belly, unaffected leg bent, affected side foot pointed out the opposite side. Of course, unconsciously moving in my sleep will always wake me up because the pain returns immediately.

As a side note, I love the way the physio uses her hands, it really does help with my understanding; adding a visual element I suppose. Excellent & easily accessible health promotional advice.

Alison: You are the best! I certainly have it.
  • Ali youā€™re absolutely brilliant. Youā€™re completely describing me at the moment. The tips and information youā€™ve given are so good. I have severe outer hip pain on my right leg this last two months and itā€™s all a bit complicated due to the sudden lack of help walking my dog twice a day due to my friend who shared the walking leaving the country. As for Crossing legs - Ouch. I am always standing with legs apart to give me balance and relieve pain. The worst for me is climbing up hills and the stairs. I have to walk up like a toddler. (Canā€™t raise the right leg into the flex position without stiffness and pain). I need to book sessions with you ! I also have DDD. X-ray just came back. Gluteals are weak and have decreased in size these past couple of years and I have a ventral hernia.

Personal Experience : I slept + spent most of the day hours on my preferred Left side on the floor on folded blankets . The cushoning of the blankets decrease so fast. This lasted 3 weeks. Suddenly ( overnight) i developed severe piriformis / sciatica ( Severe ...but strange symptoms such as walking ok for 30 seconds ,then severe pain in one spot of the foot ). It was probably piriformis spasms as the pain stopped when i stretched my left thing.... the problem lasted a week or so........ Now , a year later, I still am not comfortable sleeping on my peferred left side. The whole left hip area ,bursa,,,,,muscles,,,and all ,,,is not the same.
