And then when they died, they got overshadowed by Telltale shutting down.

As someone who worked at Capcom Vancouver for 7 years, and worked on DR4 (amongst many other cancelled projects), I appreciate your even handed and diplomatic approach to this story. It’s easy for people to shit all over DR4, but we tried our hardest to make the best game we thought we could. Yes, there were a LOT of mistakes all over, and I’m still sad over how things played out (along with the studio closure), but at least here, people can see at least a glimmer of what we tried to do, and that we didn’t set out to “ruin” the franchise. RIP Capcom Vancouver

Capcom Vancouver: “What is my purpose?” Capcom Japan: “You make Dead Rising sequels.” Capcom Vancouver: “...oh god.”
  • @Megajmaster1000
"One these games was codenamed Brazil, action-horror game" Capcom Vancouver were so ahead of their time with this idea
  • All I want from Dead Rising 5 is this; show the final scene of Dead Rising 4. It pulls out, revealing it being shown on a movie screen. A man stands up and walks out, as the credits roll. We follow him as he leaves, opening credits rolling as the camera keeps low enough so we don’t see this person. Once outside, the camera pulls up as the front doors open. “What a load of shit,” Frank West groans. “I should have never let them use my likeness.” Have the game take place in a zombie infested Hollywood, a setting ripe for combo weapons and crazy psychos. Hell, you could even have the actor that played Frank in Dead Rising 4 be the character player 2 would be in multiplayer.

Capcom Japan: Just make a Dead Rising! Capcom Vancouver: (SCREAMING!)
  • It definitely was a game that was released under the deadrising name.
  • @Laxhoop
Maybe the real Dead Rising was the dead we rised along the way.
  • @vanilla8956
I get that the woman who wrote Frank and the original story left and then others messed it up but... That still doesn't make sense to me. Frank West isn't some extremely deep tricky character. He's just an old school traditional journalist with a surprising amount of courage. How the hell did they manage to turn him into this annoying nutjob sociopath?
  • @ThePandaBrawler
Capcom Vancouver: We replaced Frank's voice actor to make him sound older while still having the same charm and humor DR4 Frank: WHO WANTS BARBECUE!? THAT'S WHAT SHE SAID! HURR HURR
  • @Steroyd666
I was cheated out of Dino Crisis reboot!? *Death scream*
  • @spotteddick9949
Who else watched "Proof that Dead Rising 4 was made in a year"?
  • @NexZu-
Them: can we mak- Capcom: you ain't touching nothin boy.
  • @luket3452
They “wanted to cast someone older for Frank”, TJ was 49 or 50 at the time the game was made, Frank is 51 years old in the game. Miss me with that foolishness!
  • @cancer4cure483
Capcom Japan: "Jesus f***ing Christ, just make a goddamn Dead Rising game, Steve!"
  • @CloutFPS
I think it’s so crazy how easily games can fall apart when the developers don’t get to express their creativity
  • @readdising714
If Dead Rising 5 ever happens, the real Frank needs to wake up and suggest that 4 was a dream. Or a movie.
