I am a type 1 diabetic for 54 years. I am allergic to sugar substitutes. I have never felt deprived as I eat healthy, I exercised and I fasted and took my medication as directed. I have my eyesight, all my limbs and simply because I did what every human should be doing. Yes I have a slice of cake on birthdays Christmas cookies and mashed potatoes on Thanksgiving. Portion control and carb control is important. Be well friends.

I find that red quinoa is particularly well tolerated by diabetics. Amazingly, when my mom (type 2 with pancreatic insufficiency) eats red quinoa, her blood glucose can actually drop a few points. Just today, her pre-meal BG was 140, and 30, 60, and 90 minutes after eating red quinoa, it was 122, 110, and 134 respectively..

It takes about 120 acres of grass to feed 50 cows. Grass fed animals may have been started on grass but finished on grain. Grass finished animals have eaten grass and forage only. The grass fed label may nor may not mean that the animal was raised on grass only.

I want to eat red meat but the advice is confusing, I don't need to lose weight just control blood sugar problems and have started Keto diet. I am keeping my carbs to well under 50g per day so why can't I eat red meat/saturated fat as I thought fat became fuel? Up to now 'some' of my symptons like blurred vision and thirst have died down but I just can't seem to get my energy back, I have started taking Berberine and also wondered if 'Creatine' could help?
