This is a topic I think about a lot... perspective, intention, self-awareness... things may seem bleak but no matter what age you were born in, there are always options... and those days we remember with such fondness, probably didn't feel like that in the moment... time has a funny way of distorting the way we see things. Thanks for watching :)

10am in 2006 and it’s quiet? Nah my moms yelling at me for sleeping till 10 and not doing chores immediately

The mourning dove coo is a staple piece in most lives, you haven't lived until you've been up all night and hear this bird as the sun comes up

I’ll never forget my art teacher told me in high school, there is creativity in boredom. He always urged us to sit with ourselves, no tv, no phones (music was ok), and create. I was born in 1995 for reference. I will never forget what he said, and it was always resonate with me. Often times I just want to put on a background tv show or drama, but I remember his advice and it’s pretty true.

As a gen z ('03), getting out of the "doomer" mindset is so unbelievably hard. Constant negativity surrounding jobs, politics, creativity, etc. Is everywhere and promoted. There is some weird comfort in staying in the negativity because you feel as though you are "opening your eyes" at first. But the longer you stay in it, it becomes a sinkhole. (I do have clinical depression that is unrelated before this becoming a major issue, so this may not be universal) I cannot imagine a future for myself in a career, a family, or being genuinely happy. It gives you such a hopeless outlook on life that I feel other generations did not have to the same degree that we do now because of tech. Trying to crawl out of this by spending some time doing hand crafts in silence and going out for birthdays with coworkers

I do miss the days when I didn’t have my phone glued to my hand…ironically I feel the “smart” phone has actually led to the dumbing down of some people.

My daughter is 17 and I feel so bad for her generation. She never goes outside. Granted, when I was 17 I was getting into a lot of trouble and was a bit of a punk but I had a blast and I am so grateful that I grew up in the 80s and 90s. I feel like we are in some weird parallel universe now. Aside from the technology, the people here are fucking weird lol

Born in 75'. I miss all this. Having your own phone line, your jam box and dreams of the future and what to wear to school on Monday. Simple life. Truly missed! ❤
  • I’m on the older end of Gen Z (born 1999)… what the tiktok guy is explaining sounds just like CHILDHOOD!! That was my childhood! I got my first cellphone when I was 9, it was a flip phone like all phones were at the time and also had a family computer that my sister and I could use whenever we wanted (the phone and Internet weren’t connected) But I still lived the life he describes simply because I WAS A CHILD!! Even with a phone, it was rarely used.. even with internet, I still had a full childhood outside and playing with friends. This guy is trying so so hard to be deep and saying we live in a whole “new worse world” when in reality he is doing what EVERY ADULT of EVERY GENERATION EVER is doing and that is MISSING THEIR CHILDHOOD

This is why I love Leon. Whether it's this or brain worms he always dives into the terrible in the world and leaves us with a hopeful message. Thanks Leon

No, but why is Leon's bird impression spot f***ing on!?!

When you're a kid on summer break, you have no responsibilites and the knowledge that for 90 days you have unlimited free time. You didn't have a job, kids, bills etc. Also, you had experienced so little there were so many new experiences to be had. The world didn't change. We had to grow up.

I am an early gen z (99) and honestly I look back in fondness of the times before smart phones caught on big. I think it's mostly the later gen zs that grew up with smart phones. Smart phones didn't really become a thing until I was in middle school. Or at least I wasn't around them if they were, and the ones that did exist weren't that advanced yet. But before like 2011-2012, this was my experience. No bullshit distractions all the time, you could actually connect with people on a personal level. It all changed around 7th or 8th grade for me. But I relate to the late millennials more than gen z to be honest. Even though I technically am gen z, I feel like the early gen zs are overlooked because we don't really fit in with the later gen zs. Idk, it just is strange to me how much of a difference a few years makes. I don't really know what I'm getting at, but I feel like a lot of people my age would relate

As someone born in 1988 and grew up in the 90s, I can honestly say I wouldn’t change that for the world. It was a gift that at the time I never realized I would cherish when I grew up.
  • I think a lot of people have a more positive view of the past because the past is set and that is comforting. The future is scary and unknown which people do not like to think about or deal with.
  • Go back to the summers in the 70's & 80's, those are the good days that have been lost.
  • @ezdubbin97
As a 45 year old Gen X, I 100% can relate to this. Every generation previous to current can relate to this. Yeah, go back far enough and video games, phones, TVs didn’t exist. None of that had interrupted the way we grew up. It was about touching grass and enjoying friends in person. Playing video games at Johnny’s house because Johnny was the first on the block to have parents that could afford a NES.
  • @BaileyMagikz
i think the real beauty of happiness is when you accept the fact the world was always full of unhappiness (we are here for a good time, not for a long time) (ps: the bird is cause you got up for school at 6/7am you was early to hear them now you wakeup 8:30 and dash around for 9am work)
  • @raspberryjam348
I’m a mid millennial and jeeeeezus, I can’t imagine growing up in the world today. The pressures from social media, lack of social skills and in person peer socializing is terrifying. It sounds morose, but if I was a teenager now, I’d have offed myself already. I was close to it as a teen in the early to mid 2000’s and that sucked ass in itself.
  • @isam_ii502
I hold the same opinion. I feel like most people would rather live right now than in the 80s or 90s even if they miss the nostalgia of that time. You always remember the good memories and forget the inconveniences and the lack of comfort.
  • I'm from Gen X, we had zero supervision. I can't tell how many times I almost died. Doing stupid things. I love my pc and my phone because of all the info I can learn. My daughter is Gen Z and I get all the going outside thing. But she was able to survive Covid, by connecting with her friends online. I don't know how my generation would have done, not being able to go out with friends. She and i love playing video games together.
