Parents who don't believe their kids who say they got abused, boils my blood. You're supposed to protect them.

I will NEVER understand how a mother doesnt believe her daughter when she says shes been raped. like HOW????
  • Kathy's story is soul-crushing. How this woman has been able to keep getting back on her feet, and then falling again, and still forging ahead, despite everything -- it's mind boggling. Despite her addictions, her will to live is fierce.

Childhood trauma is always at the core of all addiction and issues.

The fact that her sister was an eyewitness to the abuse and her mother still didn’t believe her is absolutely crazy to me

This woman’s story really hit me. She lost so many things, so many people that she loved. She really deserved so much better
  • The fact that her twins dad couldn’t help when they lived with her by gladly took them when she could no longer afford it alone is so sickening to me

When she said "I cried so hard that it hurt my brain" I felt that. I endured alot of the same things Kathy has. Grief is so hard. I'm 10 days alcohol free and so much happier despite all the trauma coming to the surface. I can feel good feelings too for the first time since I started abusing alcohol 6 years ago. I send my love and best to anyone else out there struggling. There's good things ahead.

This was pretty much my mom's story. Her father (my grandfather) abused her repeatedly for years and even though she told her mother she didn't kick him to the curb or move away and because of all that trauma she eventually moved out and finding ways to cope except her drug of choice was pills. She passed away when I was 16. I'm officially the age she was when she passed and this year has been the hardest for me. If my children ever have the slightest doubt about a person I'm with they are gone! I will always trust and listen to them.
  • As a complex trauma survivor like her myself, it's more than the crack. She's had her childhood stolen, she's had her kids too young, so essentially she had to give them up willingly....she met true love only for him to die. It seems like her family understands her traumas, but they don't FULLY understand. In this predicament, she uses the crack as an escape from all of the other letdowns that she's experienced. In this case, it's the traumas that need to be dealt with first, not the crack. The crack is the last stretch to all of this. I REALLY feel bad for her.
  • So sad that she equates her father to so loving. Yet he abandoned her during her childhood while being abused severely
  • You can tell she’s a good soul. Also a very attractive woman. Just let down repeatedly. She has a good family too. Lots to live and love for!

During the beginning of the intervention when the brother hugs her and tells her he loves her- man, I lost it there. She has such a supportive, loving bunch of siblings.

“now i look at the ground, im ashamed of who i am. i want to walk with pride.” this hurts me so deeply. the humiliation of being an addict is something we don’t always talk about. the self hatred. the shame. kathy, i am rooting for you. god bless you. i pray she gets sober and finds healing after everything.
  • @katrabbit
This one hurt my heart. I hope you're okay, Kathy. You're a strong and beautiful person. You remind me of my mom- who I never thought would get better, but somehow after 25 years of heavy using she found her way out. I hope you find your way out, too. You deserve to feel alive and happy again. You deserve it.
  • @meglea7065
Her brothers tenderness is precious. These siblings love is so apparent.
  • You can just FEEL the love these siblings have for Kathy. The way her brother embraces her when she enters the room melts my heart. I can’t imagine the loss this woman has felt in her life, it’s heartbreaking
  • @beingpath
Yo Kathy. Please don’t go out like this. I got 13 good years by hitting three meetings a week and staying around positive/sober people. Stay humble, love yourself, try to help others along your way. I’m rooting for you!
