  • When I hired for IBM in the 1970's in San Jose, I prefered graduates from Santa Clara U. and SJ State over Stanford and the Ivys. The reason is that graduates from "elite" universities often had a sickening sense of entitlement and arrogance, and could not fit in well with the working environment. On the other hand, graduates from less "elite" universities came with a desire to learn and a motivation to work hard. It was an easy choice.

As someone who was in the Army and had to deal with a lot of Ivy League Officers, just because you have an Ivy League degree doesn't mean you're smart or have common sense. I've seen a cherry private with more common sense than an educated ivy league butter bar.

The financial sector and derivatives may have a Hindenburg moment if the US Treasury market collapses.Rising market illiquidity in the $14.8 trillion U.S. Treasury market, according to Bank of America, might affect other financial markets.
  • Ivy leagues are the biggest dbag factories outside of your local CrossFit gym!
  • Prestige isn't static. Things change. If the quality of what they produce goes down, so does the prestige.

Oh! Oh! Is it because an Ivy diploma just means you had rich parents?
  • @67skullcandy
nobody wants the BS that comes with an Ivy league student.
  • Ivy League bull on only "accepting" the best and the brightess is pure marketing!! Most common trait of an Ivy league student - A parent that graduated from an ivy league school!

Riding on coattails doesn’t always mean you’re going somewhere

I know and I have worked with quite a few Ivy League grads. I never saw evidence that they were any more qualified or skilled than the people who went to state colleges. Having a degree framed on the wall from Harvard Law didn't make me think they were any better than those who went to law school at University of Oregon. Law school is tough, no matter where you attend.

Its about time that rich people stop buying easy corporate gigs for themselves and their families

Bc it doesn’t matter as much anymore. Employers don’t give a rip where you went to school, they only care if you can do the job!

If you're smart and you actually want a successful business.Don't hire any one who comes from an ivy league school.
  • Many years ago, my Dad's lawyer told us that he would not hire young lawyers from Ivy League Schools. According to him, they wanted higher salaries and they were lazy. He said. "Give me a hardworking, productive kid from Podunk U, and I will mentor him/her into a great lawyer.

Because most of them had their Diplomas paid for by their parents .

Once prestigious universities. Their prestige is long gone now.
