Brand new!: Farewell | Felix Bräuer | By Rien

The piece looks fairly simple, playable on piano or organ. But, this isn't about the notes, but about the space between the notes. Felix didn’t wrote anything on the score except for the style and tempo. So I felt free to make my own decisions. The piece has a AaB structure. I played A with strings with two hands on one manual where I replaced the lowest note from the left hand for a pedal note. I did the same with “a” but I shifted the left hand to another manual with another registration (Bourdon, Voix Humaine, tremulant). I played B just with strings and both hands on one manual without the pedal. However the pedal returns on the last few notes.
Felix, I hope you like my interpretation. Good luck in Munster!
For the best listening experience, I recommend using headphones, earbuds, or a hi-fi set. The sound dynamics of the pipe organ are truly remarkable and can be fully appreciated with high-quality audio equipment.
Played with the 1924 Steinmeyer organ, Landau, St. Maria, Germany (Hauptwerk)

Sehr schön, 👏 passend zum Abend. 😊

You most wisely let the music 'breathe' which is always imperative. Great!

Beautiful Rien. A special piece of music.

It's a nice piece to close a bussy day ... When I saw the music sheet yesterday, I had no idea, how it will sound. You are right, it's the space between the notes. And it needs a lot of rest. Very beautiful rendition!

Congrats to both performer and composer! ❤

A perfectly poignant and lovely farewell-- beautifully composed, and played.

You certainly know how to pick the composers with an atmospheric oeuvre ;) Nice one, Rien!

Hope your beautiful performance will make Felix’s transition easier.❤

I just saw the information from Felix on Facebook that he published this piece and that you played it. Sounds really nice, even if the piece doesn't look that interesting at first glance...

Saying 'goodbye' - to what has been home and a professional work environment - is always a highly emotional experience, even when there is both anticipation and excitement for a fresh start in what will be a new home and a new work environment. Felix captures in a wonderfully sincere way the nostalgia we feel for such occasions and his composition is hauntingly beautiful - but rightly resolves in the major at the end. I'm sure he will be very pleased with your interpretation and performance on the glorious Steinmeyer Organ sample set, Rien, as empathetic understanding is one of your many virtues: bravo!

You're using two manuals - can you give us a hint about the registration, please?
