Chaka. So incredibly beautiful. National treasure ❤

Steve (who adores Chaka Kahn) clarifies that this tune is much more profound than just a rock song. It's a call to seek an elevated sense of understanding and compassion towards ourselves and others around us - thus referring to this would-be state as 'higher love.' Who better than the amazing Chaka Kahn to sing with on this spiritual song. Great reaction, guys.

This guy does it all, sings, plays piano and a truely great guitar player ❗️❗️
  • Winwood won 1986 Grammy Award for Best Male Pop Vocal Performance for Higher Love.
  • Nile Rodgers from Chic on guitar. I love Steve Winwood. His Traffic era awesome. Dear Mr. Fantasy, Empty Pages (you'll like this la), Freedom Rider, Glad, Rainmaker, etc. Forty Thousand Headmen is a really cool Traffic song. This song works so well bc Steve & Chaka are both such powerful singers

Steve’s “Roll with It” is the only song I remember from my wedding reception (‘89). 💜💜💜
  • A couple of weeks ago you reacted to The Spencer Davis Group and said the lead singer sounded like Ray Charles. That was a 15 year old Stevie Winwood!

Love Steve in the band Traffic, such a talented guy with a truly unique voice.

Steve Winwood is a musical genius. One of my favorite, puts on an amazing show. Fact: album Arc of a Diver (while you see a chance) he wrote every song, played every instrument, recorded and engineered himself at his recording studio at home. His encyclopedia of work with Spencer Davis, Traffic, Blind Faith and solo speaks for itself.
  • Great reaction, guys. It’s hard not to smile while listening to this one. This album was a beast in 1986. Chaka, James Ingram, James Taylor, Niles Rodgers, Joe Walsh, Steve Ferrone, and more. It was sort of Winwood’s comeback album and people lined up to be a part of it.

England's child prodigy--you played him earlier singing "Nobody Knows You When You're Down and Out" at 15 years old (you wondered if it was dubbed!). He plays every instrument, is a top 5 singer of all-time. You might want to listen to his very (very) eclectic work with his band Traffic and also with Blind Faith (with Eric Clapton and Ginger Baker from Cream in a short-lived supergroup). Here he is fairly recently alone with an acoustic guitar singing his Blind Faith era song, "Can't Find My Way Home": https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eoSn2Y-b6wI Enjoy!
  • Love Steve's style, admire his career. Arc of a Diver, Valerie, his time with Traffic.
  • One of my favorite artists of all time! The man brings an extremely high quality with his vocals, keyboards, and guitar! There aren’t many that can do that at such a high level!! I am going to see him in a few weeks opening for the Doobies. I am sure he will be incredible, just as he has been every other time I’ve seen him!

I remember when this came out and Chaka Khan was everywhere. Although I had heard her in the 70's, when I saw her in this video and her videos, I thought she was the prettiest person I ever did see. Beautiful singer, fantastic voice. This song is not a fave of mine, but the lyrics are fabulous and her voice really adds something to it, JMO.
  • Steve knocked it out of the park when he returned in the 80's with "Back in the HIghlife Again." One of the few old geezers who in 2024 can still sing and play without missing a beat. Thanks for doing this guys. Love your channel.

Oh fella's you've blown my socks off again, It's been too long since I pulled this album off my shelf. When the ladies come in with the chorus just floors and inspires me every time . Great pick from a great album :yougotthis: :goodvibes:
