Nobody should be buying anything new anymore. If we stop, they will stop charging $60,000 for a base vehicle!

I’ve got a 2023 F150 5.0 Lariat FX4 and ZERO issues! Shifts great and daily driver. I only use Amsoil Signature Series every 4-5k miles and absolutely LOVE it!

Don't buy anything ... crash the market and trigger a price war.
  • @billzkustomz
I think we forgot what a truck was used for.. (ride and handling) it's not supposed to be a luxury car.

As a Ford technician I recommend the same posture. As I tell all of my friends and anyone who will listen. Not going to have family upset with my recommendation. and learning Transmissions have been around for 20 years. The sad part is that Ford can't get it right because they rush it to Market before it's sufficiently tested. Ford trucks come off the carrier to the dealership requiring updates on 10 to 15 modules. NoT ACCEPTABLE. Make it. Test it.. customers are not and should not be the guinea pigs when they're spending 62 to$90,000 on a truck

I bought a 23 F150 Platinum Powerboost, and it’s an amazing truck. I test drove a 23 Tundra 1794, and to me there was no comparison. F150 is a significantly more polished truck. Don’t care about Consumer Reports.

Maybe Ford didn't give Consumer Reports as much money as the other manufactures?

After owning several makes of trucks over the years, I have found that it is more dependant on the individual truck you bought and how you use it that will determine reliability save recalls etc...I expect to treat surface rust on undercarriage when I purchase a truck! Buy a kit: CRC corrosion inhibitor, Blaster Surface Shield, Eastwood internal frame coating and POR 15 High Temp .
  • Tim, you're correct in that many manufacturers don't properly coat their products for anti-corrosion. I've been in the aerospace helicopter industry as a design engineer for 30 years. The M&P engineers (material and processing) would never let us cheap out on corrosion prevention, in any condition; especially salt water. Nice to see your videos are accurate. Corrosion is a huge part of quality. Dissimilar metals, corrosive catalysts like salt water; it's mechanics of materials 101 ... I guess the car industry just hasn't figured that out yet. Toyota has made a lot of progress.

Have a 2021 F150 5.0. It has been absolutely flawless since purchase. I now have 43000 miles on it and it has been used regularly to haul 6-9,000lbs. It's smooth, comfortable, and does everything I need it to. Coming from a 2018 that treated me the same until it was totaled; I can't complain. I've driven the rams and the Chevys, the ram has a nicer ride but I didn't like the interior as much, the chevy felt underpowered and heavy. That's my opinion, everyone is entitled to their own and I'd never judge. But I'm personally very pleased with my F150.

Purchased my 2021 STX 4x4 with the 5.0 brand new. My issues: suspension makes a clunking noise when transitioning from flat areas to ramps or dips; adaptive steering does not respond well to uneven roads; left trailer light circuit will shut off randomly; transmission downshifts from 5 to 6 aggressively; driver side door panel creaks; engine will make a popping noise after normal acceleration; door hinges are warped already; interior seats rattle; exhaust system rattles and underside has lots of superficial rust. Positives: very good towing performance, cheap to maintain, very good gas mileage, good visibility and easy to drive. Have 44K on the odometer - plan to keep the tin turkey for towing and buy an older F150 for commuting.
  • I was sorry I subscribed to Consumer Reports years ago, because a lot of the products they recommended to buy ended up being garbage in my opinion. Anything you buy these days you're taking a chance.
  • I just bought a 23 f150 ecoboost, traded my 2020 ford f150 5.0. My 2023 rides much nicer than my 2020 and the power of the 3.5 EB is just awesome, towing my boat and camper with ease
  • I don’t doubt that increase in reliability concerns for the 5.0L with CD, that’s why I always drive in sport mode, may get lower MPGs, but way more fun and no CD, when you have an exhaust this is a must.

A friend bought a new 21 F150 with the 5.0. He has been a lifelong Ford guy. The engine valvetrain had a catastrophic failure and it sat at the dealership for six months waiting for a new engine. He has had the truck back for some time now. He said he does not like the transmission and it sometimes clunks badly when shifting. It has been reprogrammed and still shifts badly. I know the pickup market is very competitive and manufacturers are constantly making changes and improvements. I believe some of these constant changes result in reliability issues. The bottom line is new pickups are way too expensive and are experiencing declining reliability.

You're right about corrosion being an issue, just ask gm owners about their frames and wheel wells. It's ridiculous how cheap these vehicles are made and now they're becoming even more disposable more quickly than ever before
  • @robh.8214
In 2015 I needed to upgrade my vehicle and decided on a f150 lariat with the 5.0 v8. Just seemed the best option at the time. I considered a Chevy but opted not to mainly because of frame corrosion here in Canada with salt use on the roads and the cylinder deactivation Chevy used…. To hear Ford has gone to cylinder deactivation on the 5.0 saddens me. I am looking at the Ford lightning but charging and range in rural Manitoba when it is -30c gives me huge pause…. Guess I’ll rock my 15 for a few more years.

What gets me is how you are treated after the sale by the dealer... Rockwall Toyota in Rockwall Tx is one of those dealers that treat the customer lousy after the sale, and then when the truck goes into the dealer for service, they give you a list of things they "found" during your service...
  • @hlhl2691
Can confirm all points. I had a 22 XLT and it started to have transmission issues. Also front A pillar would rattle.
