Ahead of Saturday's Boxing mega match between Undisputed Lightweight Champion Devin Haney and Vasiliy Lomachenko, we are sitting with Devin talking everything from boxing to growing up in the Bay area, to his relationship with his father to being the youngest self promoter in the sport and how his faith and passion has shaped the man he is today. Extremely close with his father and the pair's relationship extending beyond family into business, friendship, protector- Devin says making his dad proud and happy has been one of his proudest accomplishments.

The 29-0 young fighter has managed to become a face of the sport and doesn't back down from big fights and seeks out opponents who will continue to challenge him and keep his name atop boxing's best. Ryan talks to him about mastering the strategy and sweet science of knowing when to be aggressive in the ring and when to out smart his opponent with defense. The guys ask Devin about overcoming adversity in the ring, with Haney honestly giving his assessment of how he bounced back from being hurt with a punch for the first time in his life in his 2021 battle against Jorge Linares.

With potential blockbuster fights in his future against fighters such as Gervonta Davis and Shakur Stevenson, Ryan asks Devin what separates him from those fighters and his upcoming foe, Vasyl Lomachenko. Often criticized for not having knock out power, Devin fires back that those who say that about him are not in the ring with him and he knows his abilities and will continue to pursue the path of etching his name in boxing legacy long after he stops fighting.

With success, comes fame and Devin has experienced his life in the public eye and has altered his lifestyle to adapt to the constant changes of social media and paparazzi trailing his moves to create stories. Staying grounded is something his father instilled in him from a young age and being over cautious in his personal life and outside of boxing has helped him stay on a clean path.

  • Devin is a very mature young man & I love how he talks about his father & the respect he has for his father! Well done! ❤
  • Devin is a real student of the sport. Massive credit to his father for raising a real black man.

The reverence and enthusiastic he had speaking on his Dad had me a little emotional

You can tell Devin's father did an amazing job raising him. He has a great humble confidence.

If you know boxing, you know fighters do a dozen interviews a week, but this is by far the best Devin has ever done with anyone over the years. He was the "most himself" i've ever seen him.
  • Devin Haney gets a lot of hate but he’s the kinda fighter boxing fans should be rooting for! He already has the mindset of fighting the best vs. fighting easy fights just to keep their undefeated records! May the best man win on May 20th!
  • @Rodnyet
Dope to see the love and respect he has for his father and how they are able to separate family and business. Pops did a great job raising him. The fight this weekend should be a very entertaining one. Another good interview fellas.

When you bizness minded. You act accordingly! I'm sure Devin has his times when he unwinds and enjoys being a young man. But I love the fact that he's able to flip the switch and show leadership qualities while also remaining humble. I don't think I've ever heard him speak in 3rd person, which to me is a sign of a GOD fearing man. Salute D Haney✊🏿💯
  • @whoisrra
Great interview. I admire his relationship with his dad.
  • PURE HUMBLENESS, GROUNDED, MAN OF FAITH, RESPECT, HONOR...I'M NOT A BOXING FAN, HOWEVER I LOVE WATCHING 'THE PIVOT' I WILL NOW FOLLOW THIS YOUNG MAN. PRAY BOTH FIGHTERS HAVE A GOOD FIGHT (WE ALL KNOW THERE WILL BE A WINNER AND A LOSER NATURE OF GAME). GOD BLESS YOUNG KING...U GOT MY RESPECT!
  • @AllMoneyIn
You can tell Devin has really grown and matured over the last few years. Not just in the ring but as a person.

  • Love how you guys explain to him and schooled him on why his father was like that and why his father did it certain ways. Keep spreading that knowledge and love
