Would you do this? Is it worth the extra thing to wash? 🧈

I cut really thin slices of butter with a cutting knife 😊 Same effect. If you leave it for 5 minutes it becomes completely spreadable.

We have a dish in singapore called kaya toast and its kind of served that way with thin sheets of cold butter and kaya spread between toast. Its rly good and is typically served with soft boiled eggs and coffee

You technically don’t need the peeler. You just have to make sure when you use a butter knife to keep it thin. Sometimes that can be thinner then the peeler.

I usually scrape the top of the butter to make what I get more spreadable

As a Norwegian, I can attest that this also works with a cheese slicer. That also saves that extra dish, since it will be used anyway.

I've never had this problem because I keep butter out in a covered dish so I always have room temperature, spreadable butter available except for the short amount of time between finishing one stick and needing to set out the new one to soften. Which I try to do overnight so it's still never really a problem.
  • As an Irish person seeing the "Kerry Gold" I am very happy ❤️❤️

EXOTIC BUTTER! tbh this does looks tasty, too bad i can't
  • @OtterEleven
You can grate it as well, I find it more preferable.

You could just use your butter knife to do the same as the peeler 😊 Butter will melt super fast, as you're maybe puring your coffee/tea or finding the jam or cheese 😊

Simplest things like this honestly saves effort, and time

I feel like every few years I remember that just bread and butter can be so good by itself. Normally when I want to eat that unhealthy I'll grab a cookie or make french toast or something.

Salted butter can be left out in a butter dish 😊 so it’s always softened when needed

You can also use the back of a strainer and grate the back against the butter. It makes the butter spreadable and super soft. You should try it!

Most microwaves have settings to soften things like butter and cream cheese without melting them. It is on a sticker inside the door.

Looks so good 👍. Great butter 🧈 trick.
  • I use a butter bell so I always have nice spreadable butter when I need it. HIGHLY RECOMMEND GETTING ONE!
