  • They are visibly larger than regular squirrels. Impressive. I used to think fox and gray squirrels were the same thing.
  • I have fox squirrels in my yard about 6 breeding pairs. They are awesome squirrels and I've been able to get fairly close to them after 10 years.

Seen one today playing disc golf in Ocala Florida. They are like a lemur and a squirrel mix. Cool looking

That's great work you're doing, Ms. Kate. I like the Fox Squirrels; they're beautiful creatures and an enjoyment to watch. My wife and I have a few on our property, and after hearing they are slightly on the decline, I am very thankful of that.

They populate the long leaf pine forest in Alabama. We have them living in our area of Montgomery County. We also have a small population in Washington County. Both places have towering pines, and big Red Oaks, Water Oaks, Persimmon.

I have some hunting lease property that my family has been apart of since the 90’s. Central Florida, I’ll see a few a year. Then saw one just today about 100 miles north and 100 miles west, near brooks ville on the side of the road. All the ones I’ve seen here are mostly brown with a black mask over their eyes, black back and black tail. Some will have black feet.

I can certainly tell the difference between an adult fox squirrel and grey. But I don't recall seeing a young squirrel looking like anything other than a grey squirrel. We've had fox squirrels for over a decade. Do fox squirrels only show colors and blunter noses and other characteristics when adults? Or do young fox squirrels hide more? ?????

Not as many babies as rabbits....? I mean, that might be a high standard.
  • @quiettornado1970
I hope your not separating a bonded pair by relocating a squirrel.
  • Can fox squirrels mate with regular gray or black squirrels, and if so, what is the result??

Okay so I am in NE Columbia and I saw one should I be concerned for the lil guy?
