"I don't even have to sing in key!"
you ain't Willie B
pitchfork:
"That [long version] was the fun part," Murphy explained. "When André started singing, Damon and I just looked at each other, like, 'Holy shit, we love his voice.' Then Damon sang, and his voice is amazing, too. We'd been working and playing keyboards in the little studio room and, in a weird way, you could forget that Damon has this really distinct voice that's like a part of your history."
Pitchfork: André's vocals on the 12-minute version sound really spontaneous, was that a one-take deal?
Damon Albarn: Yeah, you don't repeat that. I was inspired by him, and my opening was a one-take as well. The only problem is I'm not as good at ad-libbing, in the sense of it making sense, so mine's a bit more in tongues.

Just to clarify, the word "shit" is used 69 times in this song. That's right, 69 times.
-
One take?!? Fuuuuuuuuuccckkkkk!!!???!!!
-
This is like bohemian rhapsody's drunk nephew
-
For 5 years, this was the last ever Gorillaz song. Imagine the fans back before Humanz was first being teased having this masterpiece as their last example of what Gorillaz sounded like.
-
Converse didn't know what they were getting into
-
Do Ya Thing but everytime Andre says "im the shit" it gets faster
-
I love how as soon as Andre 3000 started going off Murphy and Albarn immediately recognized that their one mission right now was to keep this man talking for as long as possible
-
"i can piss on it im the shit, i can fart on it im the shit" lyricism that really changes your perspective here. i'm unequivocally moved. i don't think i'll ever see music the same way again.
-
I feel like Andre 3000 is very humble.
-
i think this song symbolizes how he is the shit
-
-
André 3000 is the only rapper to ever successfully do the “I’m the shit” verse without backing himself into a corner of comparing himself to literal shit.
-
There's a song by Gorillaz that's longer than an episode of spongebob and I don't know what to do with that information
-
Man, noodle and Russell changed...
-
The first 4 minutes are just the intro to the real song.
-
The moment the song stops for that horrific “ITS ALL ABOUT ME” is just monumentally cool
-
64. I count 64 times.
-
This song is called “do ya thing”, cause that’s what Andre 3000 did.
-
For a song to sponsor shoes. Andre really puts his whole soul into that nervous breakdown freestyle
-
Gorillaz, Andre 3000, James Murphy! These artists were hired to make the perfect converse commercial song! But Professor Utonium accidentally added an extra ingredient! "I'm the shit!"
