My name is Jay Swanson - I'm an American writer living in Paris on an artist visa. Paris (yes the one in France) has been my home for years now and I have every intention of staying here for as long as they'll have me. I write science-fiction and fantasy, vlogged daily for 3+ years, and love pizza a little too much. Now I make videos about visiting Paris, traveling in Europe, and try to share what I've learned along the way. I hope you enjoyed what you found.

Links are affiliate links where they can be - meaning if you click through them and buy something, I'll get some pennies. Thanks! (The FTC wants me to tell you that up front

  • Crazy that just yesterday, I was thinking to myself, "Man, I miss Jay's vlogs." But I have so much to be thankful for already (let the man be, lol). I am just this random dude from Portugal who comes from a broken home, never had any proper guidance in life until I found Jay's channel back in the days. His content is not "just" travel content; it goes way deeper than that. Jay has a very particular way of showing that life is worth it, that struggle is part of it, that perspective matters, and that it's ultimately about the little things in life. I am not exaggerating when I say that this dude pulled me out of the gutter with his non toxic positivity lol
  • Delighted to see your post this morning. Hope all is going well for you Jay. Prioritize your health, both mental and physical. Post on your own schedule and don't feel pressured to post when you don't feel like it. We will be here when you do. Have a relaxing wonderful summer.
  • I went to Paris back in October only had three days in the city and did a nine day river cruise up to Normandy. I am so upset that we did the cruise because there was so much more to discover than what was up river. I can’t wait to go back one day rent a car and Discover places you have been. I am also a fan of Les Frenchies and between their info and yours, there is so much to see and do. Ty for your videos

Wow Jay, this video was phenomenal. First, you look like you have finally grasped your "place" and it shows! The division of you into TWO (God help us) is a smart move and one that will allow you to highlight "both of you." Also, note: you are looking fabulous! Had to say it. I've been watching since you did costumes in the VOD, so I feel like I have earned it to say something so personal. Now, drumroll please - - - Move over Rick Steves! PARIS IN MY POCKET is the beginning of a great thing and I can't wait to see this brilliant approach to travel fully take hold. You (Jay) are filling a void that is not being met by others and it is so on point as it takes advantage of up to date technology tools. I'm Team Jay, and Team Paris in My Pocket. I'm here for all the POCKETS. Just not the pick pockets! Bravo Jay - Bravo on this video.

I literally despise the term ‘content’. Meaningless. Make a thing with value. Not just stuff. Content = stuff. Regarding life…just do what you want. Stay as happy as possible, as healthy as you want, and I’ll watch whenever you pop up 🍷
  • literally have been checking youtube everyday. waiting for a new video.
  • Jay, it'll all work out. Maybe drop videos on a schedule: Two Tuesday's monthly? Maybe the second and fourth Tuesday? Maybe that way you (as well as us, your viewers) will feel that there is more to talk about and watch when you do post? I enjoy the work you do and appreciate your perspective on one of my favorite places! Looking forward to October!!
  • Makes perfect sense to me that you’re concentrating more on Paris in my Pocket and fingers crossed that things will pick back up once the Olympics are done and dusted. Always good to have you check in once in a while to let us know how you’re doing too! 👍
  • It’s always interesting to hear your thoughts. Thanks for sharing these life updates.

I LOVE both channels, and think it is brilliant to separate in this way! The Jay channel is my favorite, but Paris in my Pocket is beyond awesome, and extremely informative in a truly modern way, while still keeping an eye on the more traditional scene. As a tourist, I am skipping France this year, sadly…but, I am still going to have a great time walking part of the Camino in Portugal and Spain. I know the Olympics will be fabulous, but they are not for me. No way will you be forgotten, and I look forward to lots more Jay-shares whenever they appear! Thank you, and your great team, for the dedication and excellence that you provide!
  • Jay I am so glad to be back to watching your channel! An unfortunate hiatus occured but not on purpose, just life got in the way but I am glad to be back! I was just thinking while you discussed “Paris in my pocket,” if you have ever really considered broadening your audience by making it more of a “France in my pocket?” Showing tips on tourism in the countries entirety instead of just in Paris? I’m sure you have but I personally think some point that would be a great addition to your business ventures! Just a thought 😊😊 I personally will always Love your channel no matter what, from the deep discussions on your life to the tips and tricks of traveling around Paris.

The scenery in this video makes me want to go to Bordeaux. Merci!
  • 6 years ago I came for Paris tips but I stayed for Jay. I have enjoyed the ride so far and look forward to what’s next. Congratulations on your success, you deserve it!
  • This video made me chuckle because I used to be firmly in the camp of those who think, "Why does this Paris travel influencer keep talking about his personal situations?" For that reason, I think it's genius to dedicate one channel specifically to providing content about visit Paris and the rest of France. However, I watched that "Paris travel influencer guy" long enough to get hooked, so I love catching up on what's going on in your personal life. Two very different channels and I love them both! 🙂
  • I love the vlogs!!!While I understand the “transition” , I’ll miss them! I’m planning to be back in France next year…’Paris in My Pocket’ will be quite beneficial !Thank -you!
  • It’s like 2019 again. Jay has vlogs all over France. Missing the costumes though.

As someone who has been visiting Paris for about 20 years, and focuses on good food, pastries, chocolate, history, and off the beaten path excursions, I'm impressed with your Paris in my Pocket. It is one of the best channels out there. One of our favorite recent outings was to Marly and the foundations of the Marly Machine in the Seine. So interesting! There are also plaques along the way at the spots where impressionists painted.
