If you are using frozen blueberries I recommend adding 1-2 tbsp off corn starch to the blueberry mixture and then they do not need to thaw and will be less liquidy

John: "This will be delicious with a scoop of ice-cream or a dollop of whipped cream!" Me: "Why not both?!" John: "Yes, you can do both" 🙂

Every time I look for a recipe, your channel comes up with exactly what I am looking for. How dare you. I love it. Thank you!!!!!!
  • This is the exact recipe I’ve been using for fifty years! I got the recipe from a baking book my grandmother gave me of old American recipes. It’s my all time favorite!!
  • This is your PSA to plant a blueberry bush. My grandparents planted maybe 20 blueberry bushes in the mid eighties. We still have about 12. They are BOSSES and make so many blueberries we can’t give them away fast enough. So every June and July I crave blueberries like crazy. I can’t recommend them enough.

I've been making a similar recipe like this one for years! It calls for self rising flour and calls for 1 cup of flour/milk/sugar poured on top of melted butter, the fruit added topped with a sprinkle of sugar. My family goes crazy over it!! I just made it with fresh Georgia peaches too!
  • you’re literally so adorable. you and your family deserve the world 🥺🥹

Right now, I’m drowning in peaches, so will try this! I’ll leave the sugar out of the fruit prep & see what happens! Thanks for all your wonderful baking inspiration!
  • A couple of weeks ago, I tried to make blueberry muffins. After scooping the batter in the muffin cupcake papers, I realised I'd forgotten to put the sugar in. So I tipped out all the muffin papers into a large square dish, sprinkled the forgotten sugar over, and baked it. It baked beautifully, just like this recipe. (I thought it wouldn't work).
  • Love your gentle and calm way of speaking..never a raised tone! It is so soothing to hear you speak and watch your lovely recipes..
  • I just want to be John's assistant in the kitchen so I can get a taste of everything he cooks.
  • This is what I need! I love to make fancy stuff but sometimes I need to chill out and just make a cobbler

Literally just made this and it's the best cobbler I've ever eaten! The brown butter really levels it up. Thank you for the recipe :)

I made this today and it is phenomenal 💕💕💕 So easy to make, especially if you have mobility issues. Thank you 🥰
  • Absolutely delicious, easy and quick. This was our dessert after the Sunday lunch. It is also very filling despite half of it being fruit.

Oh-h-h-h-h-h... That looks *amazing*! I LOVE fresh blueberries! (And the raspberries and blackberries my husband and I grow--which also disappear before we can make much of anything! 😆) Thank you for this mouthwatering recipe! I can't wait to try it! 💗💗💗
