Grandma's Old Fashion Chicken Noodle Soup!!!!!

Chicken Noodle Soup: Ingredients-4-6 boneless chicken thighs, (can use chicken breast or any part you choose) 2 large onions chopped, 4 carrots chopped, 3 stalks of celery chopped, 2 T. minced garlic, salt and pepper to taste, (THE FOLLOWING ARE ALL OPTIONAL 4 T. butter (optional: 1/4 cup water and 2 T. cornstarch) (also optional 32 oz chicken broth if you don't have enough chicken stock or broth from your boiled chicken) Directions: Add chicken to large pot and boil till tender, debone chicken if using bone in, add 1 t. salt to chicken and boil for 45 min or until tender, melt 4 T. butter in skillet and add in onions and garlic, and sautee for 3 minutes, after chicken is tender add all of ingredients to pot, OPTIONAL --Add 4 T. butter here (if using cornstarch add it here--add 2 T. cornstarch to 1/4 cup cold water, tap is fine, and stir into chicken soup mix, bring to a boil and then reduce heat to simmer and cook for
30-45 minutes or until carrots are fork tender, REMEMBER 4 T. butter is optional. but it does give it a great flavor.

    This is the best chicken noodle soup I’ve ever made! So many recipes over complicate things by adding Italian seasoning, random veggies etc. this is the most classic, delicious, easy recipe! It reminded me of being in kitchen with family listening to you explain. Thank you so much for sharing with us!!

  • I'm becoming addicted to your recipes. This one brings back so many sweet memories of my Grandma. SheWas forever in the kitchen making so many tasty meals . Her husband, my Grandad kept chickens in the garden . ( World war 2 was a time of rationing in UK so anything that could be grown and sown was a huge help ) .     You nailed this. Every time I made Chicken Noodle Soup it had No flavor. I made this soup tonight and finally sucess. I think the process you use of slightly cooking the Onion and Garlic and not being afraid to use salt, and the Corn Starch made all the difference. I used butter but a lesser amount. My family said this was " Delish". When I tasted it I totally agree! Thank you!!!
