Opening ceremonies for the Paris Olympics, which are being called the first post-pandemic games, are Friday. Many athletes said the absence of family and friends at the summer Olympics in Tokyo had a negative impact on their performances. It was similar for the 2022 winter Olympics in Beijing, with mandatory daily testing.
