    It doesn't matter how much moss you use, having a tarp would keep out the rain. It would always find some ways to leak through the branches.

    Getting a cooking stone from the stream was a bad idea. Stones soak up water, even dense stones. When you heat them the inside moisture flashes to steam and the stone explodes. It was interesting that the fire caused the rock above to spault and fall into the fire, giving you a nice flat cooking stone that was already heated. Usind it would have been safer.
