I hope you are not a handy man :-) There is no need to use angle grinder. When removing handle just pull iron out of the handle toward the front (handle goes on cable). Same is with heating element, you just need more force and tools.

Thanks.... I wanted to know what was inside my iron and now I do. You did it so I don't have to so now I have a chance to not wreck mine further while trying to fix it

Dude... The tip had a screw. You didn’t need an adjustable wrench to wedge it out...
