There are no consequences. Squatters have taken over a Rite Aid in New York. They have spray-painted the building and even set fire inside. No one is doing anything to stop them. #Squatters #RiteAid #NYC #iallegedly

Squatters shouldn’t have any rights at all! Especially if they aren’t even citizens. I blame authorities!
  • There will not be any consequence for Secret Service either. Lawlessness in the last days
  • Homeless lady in my backyard? Let my dogs out. She'd beg me to let her leave.
  • America has become a laughing stock of the world, and I don't honestly picture it ever getting better.
  • Dan.. I am in OC and have a 3/4 acre property..the last of a a one time citrus/avo ranch. Been in family forever - house built in 1922. Property runs street to street so was driving on street behind my house and saw a gal unloading her shopping cart and going thru a cut hole (made by avo thief) in my chain link fence. She already had her tarp tent under one of my avocado trees. I stopped and approached her and said she could not camp there. Had a long conversation (even though she was under the influence of her drug of choice) with her and was able to get her to leave. I called my daughter in San Diego and told her about it. She took it upon herself to call my PD...did not tell me. They showed up so quickly..I had just driven around the block from back street, pulled into my driveway when 2 cars & 3 officers showed up. They walked my property to make sure it was secure. Turns out the potential squatter. Miriam..was known to them and one of several squatters who had entered a for sale property about 6 houses west of me. They tore out a back wall of the house and were living there until neighbors figured out what was happening and reported them. Our PD successfully removed them and charges were filed. Here in OC there are police departments who are making a difference in the squatter situation. I learned from this that I have to be very diligent about checking areas of my property and a back house used for storage. Neighbors are watchful which is a good thing. I am 77 so, sadly, more vulnerable if I approach offenders. I stopped approaching avocado & orange thieves. Not worth the risk. 'See something, say something' can not be delayed when it comes to trespassing. As more houses go into default and become vacant it is highly important neighborhood residents pay attention to what is happening around them and swiftly make the call to law enforcement. Timing is everything.

When you come home and see a homeless person living in your daughter's playhouse, you do not call the police. You take care of business yourself.
  • Hearing about having squatter problems reminds me of The Sopranos episode where Tony Soprano bought dilapidated homes in a bad neighborhood in New Jersey to be converted for HUD housing. His home was being used a crack house for the local drug users. Tony asked one of his partners in the deal to find some dudes who could remedy the problem. Some local young black men who had some history with the justice system were hired. They came in late at night with guns blazing and shot up the place driving out the crack addicts.
  • My rent goes up every year single mom 2 jobs work 830am to 1100pm
  • @travist.7279
The police won't evict squatters because they are too busy writing seatbelt tickets. Priorities!
  • Treehouse squatter yard owner should get some agressive guard dogs.
  • @bartmccoy5111
#1 Never call the police over a trespassing problem! Simply change the minds of the violators! It’s easy! Been there done that!!
  • The only people there are consequences for are us working people who pay ALL of the bills. Mine, and the welfare queens, the politirions and the migrants.
  • @fredk9999
There is a reason for signage reading at Yellowstone National Park “Please Do Not Feed the Bears.”
  • We owe these poor misunderstood people a lifestyle that’s as good or better than yours and mine. Said every single Democrat in America!!
  • @johnbrady9946
You’re gonna start hearing about people getting moved out of their homes by the squatters and taken over
