Ask Kati Anything! podcast ep.2

Welcome to Kati Morton's podcast "Ask Kati Anything" ep.2

Audience Questions
1. How to deal with atypical anorexia how to deal with feeling not ill enough?

2. How do you deal with clients who don't make progress or continually self-sabotage? I'm BPD and so many therapists have gotten frustrated and irritated with me for this and basically made my BPD reactions and outbursts worse by seemingly 'abandoning' me.

3. Is it truly possible to fully recover from a mental illness or is it like asthma where it's always there but can be managed? So you always have to be aware of it but there are times where it doesn't flare up and you can live a normal, healthy life? Or can it fully go and someone can come to live life fully without having to worry about depression, anxiety or an ED again?

4. How do you maintain your mental health when you are in physical pain?

5. Could you do a video about PTSD being passed down generationally? Is the Holocaust the only example of this or is it present in other instances?

6. What do you do if a client has a plan to kill themselves in the future? Like not any time too soon but they have a plan for the next month for example?

7. Is there ANYTHING practical/tangible that a person can do when having a terrible body image moment or day? I need something more effective than just repeating affirmations... there must be something that can help! It’s the biggest roadblock to my ED recovery, I cannot tolerate my body so I give in to behaviors.

8. Can you recommend any tips to help stop painful past memories from suddenly popping into my head at random times of the day & night? I'm fed up & exhausted from reliving all the sad emotions it brings up.

9. Medication vs talk therapy for depression?

Don't worry about how we want the videos Kati, you're doing great!
  • @Akanchwua
I definitely prefer this style of video, I loved watching your old style faqs. I support your content whatever you make, but the more relaxed feel is definitely my preference, where you feel like you're having a conversation with someone who just so happens to be a trained professional haha
  • I think having it varied is great, the questions are in the description so someone can always check there first if they want to (p.s less work for yourself it doesn't need to be complicated) I kinda like just tuning into these and whatever comes up can either help me personally or help me understand a different area of mental health that I may need to pull from one day if someone is in need :)
  • Hi Kati! You are making quarentine easier for me. I'm 70 years young! I like varied podcasts! Thank you!
  • @hw2050
I prefer it varied because we don’t have to wait so long for a topic to come up. Also, even if you are not talking about our particular issue, strategies and advice can overlap and still be useful x
  • I enjoy both styles of videos. I love your in depth ones, because they're very factual and informative. This podcast is great because we get your opinion on a bunch of different questions which is awesome 😊♥️
  • I love this format! Give me more, give me more, oops... sorry, I was listening to the Pointer Sisters up loud again. Go ahead and jump! OK, I'll be quiet now but I'm not happy about it.
  • I like this format, Kati! It’s nice to look forward to a surprise every week, especially as a break from online school thanks to quarantine haha
  • I love this varied format Kati. I'm quite new to your channel but I know I can just type in the search bar if I want relevant info on any specific subject and have watched heaps of them. You have a natural manner and instinct for public media and I think you should follow your gut instincts really. Our most reliable source of wisdom most of the time! Congratulations on the wonderful job you do, and also Sean is really good at his too with the filming and editing etc. Well done guys 🥰🙌🏼
  • Hi Kati, thank you so much for answering our questions!! It’s been really helpful especially the ones pertaining to mental health. I think putting time stamps with the questions in the description would be greatly appreciated by all as well 😎
  • Kati I love this format! It is just like your old FAQ videos, but better because they are longer. I absolutely love everything about these videos because I find that it doesn´t matter if I am not struggling with an eating disorder, I still can benefit from listenting to others talk about their issues. Usually, I find that I am thinking the very same thing someone with PTSD does, even if I don´t actually have it. Overall, just know that this is amazing, keep up the good work!
  • Thank you for doing all that you do, Kati. I'm having financial difficulty getting the help I need, and your videos are a real help in being surrogate therapy.
  • I love listening to you answering questions, it reminds me of good old days and your videos (facebook friday, twitter thursday). I love psychology so much and it is always nice to hear some valuable things from you. Thank you so much Kati!!
  • @jmpht854
Dude generational trauma is SO real. Some of the older members of my extended family survived World War II (not the Holocaust corner of it) remarkably well...and their children are absolute train wrecks. It's like the trauma completely skipped the people it actually happened to and came to life in the next generation. I would love to read your book, especially now that we are engulfed by the COVID pandemic. I know it'll be a while, but I'll be looking forward to it!
  • I forgot to say.. Thank you for both podcasts!! Love them both!!!
  • @tiiax9615
I enjoy this series so much :) thank you for taking the time to make these episodes (!) (also I think I like the idea of varied topics more, it keeps it interesting bc you can learn about different topics at once and there's usually something for everybody. AND i love that you don't just rush through dozens of question and instead answer in depth)
  • Good morning! Diagnosed with cyclothymia. I take a mood stabilizer, anxiety meds & depression medicine. I had a miscarriage last year and while I was pregnant I felt VERY anxious & suicidal. Is it possible to have a decent pregnancy? Should women who have these problems not have children. Sincerely, an almost mom. Love you Kati. Thank you for all your kindness you share ♥️
