Salute to Funkmaster Flex for inviting STAR on his show and reconnecting on the NYC airwaves. This was a great moment for Hip-Hop and a chance for everyone to move forward. In March of 2000 the Star & Buc Wild morning show launched on HOT97 in NYC. In 2004, after three years of successful ratings and impact, STAR and HOT97 could not reach an agreement about syndication and salary so STAR left and signed on with Power 105.1 via Clear Channel.

Troi Torain aka STAR is a multimedia personality whose career has spanned the arenas of radio, television and the world-wide web. Considered a radio pioneer by many, Torain's personal brand STAR & BUC WILD set precedents in the urban landscape. Torain's resume also includes WEA (Warner Elektra Atlantic), Virgin Records, The Source magazine, Power 104.1 (Hartford), Power 99 (Philly), Hip-Hop Weekly magazine, Vladtv.com, 100.3 The Beat (Philly) shot97.com, VH1 (The Gossip Game) Everyday Struggle (Complex) and The Star Report. In 2011 STAR was also inducted into News Ones Top 20 greatest radio personalities of all time -- troitorain.org/

Everytime Flex said "my brother" I heard Star's voice in my head " I'm not your brother, with all due respect Big Dog." 🤣

  • I'm a day one fan, years ago after he left HOT he worked at a station in Brooklyn, it was like 90.9 Fm. I was driving to work and he was on the air waves telling listeners to come to station and get an autographed book. I went, he let me in during the live show, saw him DX21 and white trash elene. It was a great day, and I still have the autographed book.
