“I’m not going to let other people determine what I am or am not capable of accomplishing, simply because of the color of my skin and my last name.” Rep. Andy Kim, of New Jersey’s 3rd District, chats with Ronny Chieng and Jordan Klepper about his Senate run and Asian-American representation in politics, why working in Congress feels like “the world’s worst reality TV show,” and how America can solidify its role in the 21st century amidst growing neo-isolationism. #DailyShow #AndyKim #Senate

I’m from New Jersey and I’m 18 and I’m definitely voting for Andy Kim 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸

Andy Kim worked at the U.S. State Department, served in Afghanistan as a civilian adviser to Generals David Petraeus and John R. Allen before working as a national security adviser under President Barack Obama, and served as a United States National Security Council official before representing NJ-3. A true American statesman.

He was the Congressperson throwing out the trash on the night of January 6th, 2021! I hope he wins.
  • @unseenforcs
This guy was cleaning up trash left in the capitol building on the night of Jan 6. He is really smart and decent and we need more of his kind serving.

Andy Kim seems exactly like the kind of people we need in government right now! I really hope we can find more people like him who actually want to serve the people.

I never felt beholden to the 2-party system, but Andy Kim always struck me as genuine... and I'm not too proud of NJ politicians, but seeing him cleaning up after January 6th to honor our country, he's got a soft spot in my heart from now on.

9:28 "What is the value of the American handshake right now?" That's heavy. Great perspective.

The huge impact Andy Kim's campaign has already had they didn't mention here is that he single-handedly brought down New Jersey's bizarre, arcane party machine system of picking nominees, in which preferential spots on the primary ballot (e.g. being listed on the same party-endorsed "ticket" as Biden) were decided at conventions dominated by obscure party bosses. He was running against the literal first lady of the state with all the political connections she has to these party officials, and through mobilizing enough people who were sick of this convoluted process (which of course is conducive to all kinds of corruption), he was actually able to pull off a few surprise wins at these conventions, so much so that first lady Tammy Murphy has withdrawn from the race. Can't wait to see what he does as senator!
  • Rep. Kim is a true patriot. He makes me proud to be an American, and it makes me wish I could vote for him for senate.

  • @mrshawaiianheart
He nailed it. Some of his colleagues think they're social media influencers. They aren't governing
  • @dm-heart
6:24 yes. Public servants should leave their ego & ambition outside the door.🚪 love his perspective of humility w/public service rather than personal ego

What does it show about Amerika when a comedy show has become as credible or MORE credible than a Sunday morning political fiasco?

I was very moved to see Andy Kim on 1/7/21 in the rotunda of the Capitol, cleaning up the mess left by the insurrectionists the day before.
  • @peterg5383
I can easily see this guy as president in a few years.
  • This guy is a great example of how politicians Should be, act, talk etc. Hopefully he doesn't get corrupted. Great job so far Mr Kim. Keep up the great work.
